At the apex of the First World War, technology and innovation often decided the outcome of the many brutal skirmishes witnessed along the Western Front. Tank warfare, in particular, emerged as a field of great interest to the warring powers as they sought for a way to break the deadlock of static, entrenched combat. As the first tank produced and fielded en-masse during the conflict, the British Mark IV Tank would change the state of war forever. This is the true story of one such tank, affectionately nicknamed the 'Fray Bentos.' Beached before the enemy during the Battle of Passchendaele, the brave crew of the Fray Bentos were forced to endure a 3-day siege - completely cut off from Allied lines. Trapped inside the cramped, smoggy landship, the men desperately fended off multiple ground assaults from their determined German foes. Today, the 'Fray Bentos Boys' are officially recognised as the most decorated tank crew of WW1 - having participated in the war's longest tank engagement.

The ‘Battle of Bunker Hill’, which took place on June 17th 1775, was the first time New England soldiers faced the British army in a pitched battle during the American Revolution.
Fought outside of Boston on the Charlestown peninsula, the battle itself took place, in large part, on Breed’s Hill rather than nearby Bunker Hill.

Today around 250,000 veterans are still disabled by a mysterious disease known as Gulf War Syndrome, a medical anomaly with a distinctive set of symptoms that strangely only affects soldiers who served in the 1991 Persian Gulf War.
For decades the causes of this peculiar chronic illness baffled and divided scientists, as they debated whether the malady had a psychological or biological explanation, and it is only recently, over 30 years after the end of the conflict, that some of them have claimed to have found a definitive answer.

Any time the source moves toward the observer or if the observer moves toward the source, the detected frequency will increase - that is - the observed frequency will be greater than the frequency emitted by the source. The source can be an ambulance truck or a police siren. If the source moves away from the observer or if the observer moves away from the source, the detected frequency will decrease. This chemistry video tutorial provides a basic introduction into the types of chemical bonds such as polar covalent bonds, nonpolar covalent bonds and ionic bonds. It discusses the difference between ionic bonding and covalent bonding. Ionic bonds can be identified by looking for a metal combined with a nonmetal. Covalent bonds typically occur among 2 or more nonmetals. Covalent bonding involves a sharing of electrons and ionic bonding forms as a result of a transfer of electrons from the metal to the nonmetal producing ions with opposite charge which are attracted to each other. The electrostatic force of attraction produces the ionic bond that holds the cations and anions together. Polar covalent bonds have unequal sharing of electrons between the atoms where as nonpolar covalent bonding have a relatively equal sharing of electrons between the atoms attached to the bond. Polar covalent bonds typically have an electronegativity difference of 0.5 or more where as nonpolar covalent bonds have a value difference of 0.4 or less.
