Do you know what a bar graph is? Or have you ever heard a pie chart? In Graphs for Kids, you and your kids will learn all about four basic graphs that people use to share data. You can use many types of graphs to display the same information. Sometimes it just depends on what you like best.

Pictographs use pictures to display data. For instance, if you studied how many students liked a specific field trip, you could create a pictograph to show the numbers. A certain picture would represent each student or a specific number of students. You could use a bar graph to share the same information. Instead of pictures, you would use bars, usually of different colors.

Another type of graph is the line graph. Line graphs are helpful in showing information over a period of time. For example, if you want to measure how tall you are at different ages, you can use a line graph to show your steady increase in height. The final graph you will learn about is actually called a pie chart. This is because it looks like a pie! The sizes of each "slice" depend on your data. If you interview 100 students about their favorite pet, and 50 of them like dogs the most, then half of the pie would represent students who prefer dogs.

We hope you and your student(s) enjoyed learning about these basic graphs! If you want even more information, head over to our website and download one of our many free lesson plans, full of activities, worksheets, and more!

I made this solar system 3d model for my school or science fair. So, she can understand better and can remember all the planets name. It can be good for school project also. It's easy and fun. Anyone can make it at home.
For this project what you need:
1) Foam balls (Different size for all the planets and the sun)
2) Black Foamboard
3) Acrylic paint
4) Hot glue
5) foam sheet
6) white chalk
At first, I colored all the foam balls for making planets and the sun with acrylic paint. And for Saturn ring, I used foam sheet and colored it with acrylic paint and glue it to the Saturn.

Now I cut the foam board (11x20 inch) 1 piece,
(3x11 inch) 2 pieces, (3x20 inch) 2 pieces.
Then join together as shown in the video and make it like box
Now paint with acrylic color using tissue paper so it will create a texture. Then take a toothbrush dip into white paint and sprinkle with your finger for more realistic look. Then using chalk draw the line of the orbit of the planets. And then stick all the Planets and the Sun using hot glue. Now your 3D Solar system is done.

In which John Green teaches you about Imperialism. In the late 19th century, the great powers of Europe were running around the world obtaining colonial possessions, especially in Africa and Asia. The United States, which as a young country was especially susceptible to peer pressure, followed along and snapped up some colonies of its own. The US saw that Spain's hold on its empire was weak, and like some kind of expansionist predator, it jumped into the Cuban War for Independence and turned it into the Spanish-Cuban-Phillipino-American War, which usually just gets called the Spanish-American War. John will tell you how America turned this war into colonial possessions like Puerto Rico, The Philippines, and almost even got to keep Cuba. The US was busy in the Pacific as well, wresting control of Hawaii from the Hawaiians. All this and more in a globe-trotting, oppressing episode of Crash Course US History.

Hey teachers and students - Check out CommonLit's free collection of reading passages and curriculum resources to learn more about the events of this episode. As America transitioned from the 19th to the 20th century, it experimented with imperialism through war and annexation; one of the most lasting effects of this time was the annexation of Hawaii, America's 50th state: https://www.commonlit.org/text....s/the-1897-petition-

In which John Green explores exactly when Rome went from being the Roman Republic to the Roman Empire. Here's a hint: it had something to do with Julius Caesar, but maybe less than you think. Find out how Caesar came to rule the empire, what led to him getting stabbed 23 times on the floor of the senate, and what happened in the scramble for power after his assassination. John covers Rome's transition from city-state to dominant force in the Mediterranean in less than 12 minutes. Well, Rome's expansion took hundreds of years, he just explains it in under 12 minutes. The senate, the people, Rome, the caesarian section, the Julian calendar, and our old friend Pompey all make appearances, but NOT the Caesar Salad, as Julius had nothing to do with it.

In which John Green teaches you about globalization, a subject so epic, so, um, global, it requires two videos. In this video, John follows the surprisingly complex path of a t-shirt as it crisscrosses the world before coming to rest on your doorstep, and eventually in your dresser. The story of the t-shirt and its manufacture in far-flung places like China, Guatemala, and India is a microcosm of what's going on in the global economy. Globalization is a bit of a mixed bag, and there have definitely been winners and losers along the way. In this episode, John will talk about some of the benefits that have come along with it. Next week, he'll get into some of the less-positive side effects of globalization.
