In which John Green finally gets around to talking about some women's history. In the 19th Century, the United States was changing rapidly, as we noted in the recent Market Revolution and Reform Movements episodes. Things were also in a state of flux for women. The reform movements, which were in large part driven by women, gave these self-same women the idea that they could work on their own behalf, and radically improve the state of their own lives. So, while these women were working on prison reform, education reform, and abolition, they also started talking about equal rights, universal suffrage, temperance, and fair pay. Women like Susan B. Anthony, Carry Nation, Elizabeth Cady Stanton, the Grimkés, and Lucretia Mott strove tirelessly to improve the lot of American women, and it worked, eventually. John will teach you about the Christian Temperance Union, the Seneca Falls Convention, the Declaration of Sentiments, and a whole bunch of other stuff that made life better for women.
Hey teachers and students - Check out CommonLit's free collection of reading passages and curriculum resources to learn more about the events of this episode. Few women were as vocal for women's rights during the 19th century as Susan B. Anthony: https://www.commonlit.org/text....s/the-life-s-work-of
Anthony worked for women's right to vote alongside great women like Sojourner Truth, who stressed the importance of intersectional feminism in her influential “Ain't I a Woman?” Speech: https://www.commonlit.org/texts/ain-t-i-a-woman

Why should a good education be exclusive to rich kids? Schools in low-income neighborhoods across the US, specifically in communities of color, lack resources that are standard at wealthier schools -- things like musical instruments, new books, healthy school lunches and soccer fields -- and this has a real impact on the potential of students. Kandice Sumner sees the disparity every day in her classroom in Boston. In this inspiring talk, she asks us to face facts -- and change them.

It's Kids Academy and welcome back to our channel! Social studies for kids is an essential subject in their initial classes. The three very important lessons of social studies are recycling, civil rights and the right to vote. Let’s describe these concepts in simpler words for kids.
Recycling simply means converting waste material into something new that can be used effectively. There are many materials that are being recycled today including plastic bags, tin cans, bottles, thrown away paper, juice cartons, and many more. Recycling is important because it saves the earth from pollution and is an efficient use of energy.
Civil rights are the rights that are observed to protect the freedom of common people from the government, private individuals and social organizations. One of the very important rights given by civil rights is the right to vote.
Every person in a country, satisfying the legal requirements of nationality, has the right to vote and elect the political public representatives, mostly the president. Every person 18 years of age or older has the right to vote.
It is necessary for a kid to know their rights in a state, it enables them to have a better understanding of the law and defending themselves in times of need.

Learn subtraction facts with the make-a-ten strategy: subtracting 9, part 3. Free practice at http://[a]www.ilearn.com%2Ffacts[/a]
iLearn provides the easiest and quickest way to learn the make-a-ten strategy that works for all addition and subtraction facts with sums or minuends greater than 10. Without this strategy, these are the hardest facts to learn. With this strategy, they become very easy. Because the strategy is based on the fundamental principle of place value, students have far less difficulty understanding place value later when they learn to add and subtract numbers with 2 or more digits.
iLearn provides professionally designed math instruction for all markets, including home, K-12, and college. Our instructional programs combine the best scientifically-designed curriculum with state-of-the art delivery systems.
Our specialty is providing easy-to-use, highly effective support, for students who have difficulty learning math. It’s the easiest and fastest way to understand math and master math procedures.
This video is one of over 800 similar lessons from iLearn on math topics ranging from kindergarten through high school math.

Title: Make a ten strategy Subtraction Facts: 9 and missing addend described with symbols
In this lesson, we'll answer questions like this. 9 plus what number equals 13?
To find the number we need, we start with the number we know, so we start with 9.
We need one more here to make 10 so we click here to add it.
Now we have 10 and we need 13 in all.
13 is 3 more than 10 so we add 3 more here.
1 and 3 is 4 so we added 4 more in all.
10 and 3 makes 13 so 9 and 4 also makes 13.
13 is 4 more than 9 so we put 4 in the answer box.
9 plus what number equals 17?
To find the number we need, we start with the number we know, so we start with 9.
We need one more here to make 10 so we click here to add it.
Now we have 10 and we need 17 in all.
17 is 7 more than 10 so we add 7 more here.
1 and 7 is 8 so we added 8 more in all.
10 and 7 makes 17 so 9 and 8 also makes 17.
8 is the number we add to 9 to get 17 sSo we put 6 in the answer box.
Now you do some on your own.
Click on a number strip here to put more blocks here.

Do you know the names of America's Founding Fathers? In Who Are the Founding Fathers?, you and your kids will learn that answer to that question! This video discusses some of the facts about these important individuals. It also talks about some other people who are often considered founding fathers or mothers because of their own contributions to the founding of this nation.
George Washington is referred to as the Father of His Country because he was a great leader. He led the revolutionary army against the British in their war for freedom. He became the president of the United States after a unanimous vote! In fact, four of the seven Founding Fathers became presidents.
This video also describes some of Benjamin Franklin's contributions. Aside from being a politician, he was a scientist and inventor. Did you know he invented bifocal glasses? He and the other Founding Fathers collaborated on several important documents that helped unite the colonists of the country. These include the Declaration of Independence, The Federalist Papers, and the Treaty of Paris. This video also reminds us that these men were not perfect and made many mistakes in their lives.
