Arguably the most likely way we will first discover alien life on another planet will be using the power of atomic spectroscopy. You can grab the Map of Quantum Physics here https://store.dftba.com/collec....tions/domain-of-scie

Aliens will most likely leave a tell tale trace of their life in the atmosphereโ€™s of their planet. But how do we know what chemicals the atmosphere of a distant planet contains? The answer is atomic spectroscopy. If we see a planet passing in front of itโ€™s star, some of that starlight is absorbed in a very specific pattern called an atomic absorption spectrum. Each element has a specific pattern like a barcode, so through careful analysis of the light it can tell us which gasses are in the atmosphere and their proportions. We already use this technique for other space objects like stars and nebulae, measuring properties like temperature, density, ionization and relative velocity. This is a gift that nature and quantum physics has given us and the majority of what we know about the universe is based on this technique.

#rounding #homeschool #placevalue #mathhelp #mathvideos

Thanks for watching my video on rounding numbers to the nearest tenth. In this video, I will walk you through 4 examples for rounding to the nearest tenth. We first identify what digit is in the tenth place, then we look at the number to the right (hundredths place). If it is 5 or greater we round the tenth digit up. If it is 4 or lower we round down (which means it stays the same).

See if you can get the extra problem at the end. Leave your answer in the comments!

Improved math is a channel created to provide additional instruction on essential math concepts. Iโ€™m passionate about math and I know first-hand how important math concepts are in the real world.

Teachers, parents, guardians, homeschoolers, and students can use these videos to help reinforce math skills. These math videos are designed to help teach yourself math or provide self-study math tools to assist when additional instruction is needed. Teaching math and learning math has changed the way many students learn in this virtual environment. Having on-demand math videos can provide math tutoring needed when children are not able to get help from their teachers after school hours or when trying to do math at home.

The library of math tutorials that I create can also be used as supplemental instructional material for homeschool math. Each full-length video comes with a subsequent knowledge check or math practice problems which serve as a virtual math topic worksheet to test your understanding of each skill. These videos can be paused to work out the problems on your own, then unpaused to check your answers. All of these videos can be found under the Knowledge Check playlist.

I also have a library of shorter videos (less than 1 minute in length - shorts) that are quick math tips and tricks on basic math topics. Some of these short math help videos include problems that you can work on yourself and submit your answers in the comments. They are all listed under my Math Tips and Tricks playlist.

Improved math is creating more videos every day to cover topics from 4th grade, 5th grade, 6th grade, and 7th-grade math. The videos focus on fractions, basic math operations, geometry, and ratios but more topics are being added all the time. If there is a specific topic you would like to see covered, drop me a comment in one of my videos and let me know!

Free math help videos will be posted every Thursday and Friday. For additional math resources, check out my math help website at improvedmath.com where I post math worksheets and answers along with additional context on math basics.

๐Ÿพ Think you know animals? Science class definitely left out the craziest details. From creatures with powers that sound more like superheroes than biology, to bizarre survival tricks you wonโ€™t believe are real, nature is full of shockers. These facts are so wild, theyโ€™ll make you see the animal kingdom in a whole new way. Some will make you laugh, others might creep you out, but all of them prove that animals are way stranger than we were ever taught. This isnโ€™t your boring classroom lecture โ€” itโ€™s the wild, unfiltered truth about the coolest creatures on Earth. Stick around, because these insane animal facts will blow your mind!

This video shows you how to round decimals to the nearest whole number. The video focuses on looking at the one's place value and evaluating the decimal place to the right of the one's place. If it is 5 or higher, the number rounds up. If it is 4 or less, the whole number remains unchanged (rounds down).

The universe isn't just a vast empty ocean sprinkled with galaxies โ€“ most of the atoms are actually drifting in between, in the intergalactic medium.
If we look closely, we can see who is in charge here: Quasars, the single most powerful objects in existence. As small as a grain of sand compared to the amazon river, they reside in the centers of some galaxies, shining with the power of a trillion stars, blasting out huge jets of matter, completely reshaping the cosmos around them. They are so powerful that they can kill a galaxy.
What are they, and how do they mold the structure of the universe at their whim?

Code for solving the Schrรถdinger equation by Jonny Hyman available here: https://github.com/jonnyhyman/QuantumWaves

I learned quantum mechanics the traditional 'Copenhagen Interpretation' way. We can use the Schrรถdinger equation to solve for and evolve wave functions. Then we invoke wave-particle duality, in essence things we detect as particles can behave as waves when they aren't interacting with anything. But when there is a measurement, the wave function collapses leaving us with a definite particle detection. If we repeat the experiment many times, we find the statistics of these results mirror the amplitude of the wave function squared. Hence the Born rule came into being, saying the wave function should be interpreted statistically, that our universe at the most fundamental scale is probabilistic rather than deterministic. This did not sit well with scientists like Einstein and Schrรถdinger who believed there must be more going on, perhaps 'hidden variables'.

In the 1950's Hugh Everett proposed the Many Worlds interpretation of quantum mechanics. It is so logical in hindsight but with a bias towards the classical world, experiments and measurements to guide their thinking, it's understandable why the founders of quantum theory didn't come up with it. Rather than proposing different dynamics for measurement, Everett suggests that measurement is something that happens naturally in the course of quantum particles interacting with each other. The conclusion is inescapable. There is nothing special about measurement, it is just the observer becoming entangled with a wave function in a superposition. Since one observer can experience only their own branch, it appears as if the other possibilities have disappeared but in reality there is no reason why they could not still exist and just fail to interact with the other branches. This is caused by environmental decoherence.

New mental health and wellbeing resources for teachers.

โ€œSometimes I feel I'm more stressed than the pupils are.โ€

Teachers tell all in the first of a new series of short films on BBC Teach.

If youโ€™re feeling under intense pressure during exam season, youโ€™re not alone.

In this short film teachers speak frankly and honestly about this most testing of times.

From reassuring panicked students to the relentless countdown to exams and results day, their experiences will be familiar to most education professionals.

One teacher says: โ€œI've seen some terrible things, I've had students who have felt the pressure so much that they've become suicidal and again sadly that [poor] mental health of students is something we're seeing more which I think affects teachers because you feel like you're doing it to them even though we're just a little cog in this machine.โ€

Another admits: โ€œI've done everything I physically can to make sure that they succeed. And that's given me a lot of countless sleepless nights and feeling - am I good enough?โ€

Weโ€™ve created a BBC Teach support area with top tips to help get you through exam season. And weโ€™ll be adding more new films in the coming weeks with teachers sharing their experiences.

Youโ€™ve heard of Jackson Pollock and know of his infamous โ€œdrip paintings,โ€ but what is it that youโ€™re supposed to do when you look at his work today? Why did it cause shockwaves in 1947, and what does it mean now? We explore the life, evolution, and legacy of Jackson Pollock.

Thanks to our Grandmaster of the Arts Indianapolis Homes Realty, and all of our patrons, especially Patrick Hanna, Stuart Hyatt, and Constance Urist. To support our channel, visit: http://www.patreon.com/artassignment.

We apologize for the following errors and omissions:
- Jackson Pollock was sympathetic to leftist causes but never an official member of the Communist Party. He did participate in the creation of large scale public works for gatherings of the American Communist Party while part of the workshop of Mexican muralist David Alfaro Siqueiros, including a float for the 1936 May Day parade. Find out more here: https://www.artsy.net/article/....artsy-editorial-poll
- The photograph shown at 6:57 is inexplicably and inexcusably upside down.
- The photographs of the interior and exterior of the Pollock-Krasner House and Study Center are by photographer John Griffin and appear courtesy of the Pollock-Krasner House and Study Center, East Hampton, NY.

Hi! Welcome to Improved Math!

If you want to learn how to add negative integers, this video is for you. When adding all positive integers, your answer will always be positive. When adding all negative integers, the answer will always be negative. When adding both positive and negative integers together, you will subtract the absolute values of the integers and the answer will be in the sign of the integer with the highest absolute value. Donโ€™t forget to check out the bonus problem and leave me your answer in the comments!

Understanding basic math isnโ€™t just about crunching numbers; it's about fine tuning problem-solving abilities, making informed decisions, and gaining deeper insight into the world around us. From everyday tasks to complex situations, math plays a pivotal role.

Just as important is cultivating critical thinking skills. Learning how to analyze and evaluate information is needed to arrive at well-informed conclusions. Discover why these skills are the cornerstone of innovation, creativity and rational decision-making.
