After finding the sign chart for your polynomial, first, and second derivatives you may lose sight of what they all represent.

The sign chart of your polynomial will tell you when your function value, f(x), is above (positive on sign chart) or below (negative on sign chart) the x-axis.

The sign chart of your first derivative tells you when your function is increasing (positive on first derivative sign chart) or decreasing (negative on first derivative sign chart).

The sign chart of your second derivative tells you when your function is concave up (positive on second derivative sign chart) or concave down (negative on second derivative sign chart).

As long as you have factored your polynomial completely, making a sign chart of the base function, first derivative, or second derivative of a polynomial follows a similar process every time.

A walkthrough of the process if shown first in the video followed by a list of steps that were followed to help one reproduce a sign chart on their own.

What Is Checkmate? | Definition and Meaning | Learn to Play Chess

The most important word associated with chess is checkmate. It is how a player either wins or loses the game. Therefore before you explain the other rules of chess to kids, start with the most basic knowledge of checkmate, so that they know what they need to know in order to win the game.

You know about CPR, capture protect runaway. If the king cannot get out of CPR situation it means checkmate. In simple words, if the king is being attacked and it cannot save itself in any way we say its checkmate and the game is over.

Since in chess we do not capture the king so checkmate means that it is the turn before we would capture the king, which simply means the king is trapped and there is no way out.

Let me explain this through the example above.

In this position, the queen is at b7 attacking the black king. The black king cannot protect or run away from here. However, the king can do a capture move from here.

The black king can easily capture the queen from here and save itself from checkmate.
However, if we make little changes in the arrangement of this board.

Now the black king has no place to run away, neither can it protect itself nor it can capture the queen. Because now the queen is being protected by the white king. Therefore there is no way that the black king can now attack the queen. This brings the black king in a checkmate situation. Now there is no way that it can save itself. Hence now this would be called a checkmate and it is game over.

You can set many different examples on your chess board to better explain the concept to the kids to make it more interesting for them. This online chess session is extremely helpful for kids and can be used as chess lessons for beginners.

Learn English Punctuation for Kids: Period, Exclamation Mark, Question Mark

English punctuation for kids is a very important grammar lesson. It forms the basics of sentence structure and its understanding. It is very important to learn English for the kid and for the kid to have a clear understanding of using the right punctuation marks in their sentences.

Beginning with the very basics, let's learn about the ending punctuations for kids in this lesson. Ending punctuations are the punctuations that are used at the end of the sentences. It helps to understand the meaning of the sentence, where the sentence is ending and what is the sentence trying to say.

There are three most common ending punctuation marks used:
1. Period(.)
2. A question mark(?)
3. An exclamation point(!)

Most of the sentences end with a period. It marks the end of the sentence. For example:

1. The car is red.
2. I have a book.
3. He is reading.
4. This is an apple.

Sentences which are enquiring about something and are asking a question end with a question mark. For example:

1. Is this your book?
2. Do you have a pen?
3. Are you Jack?
4. How old are you?

The question mark answers the following questions:

1. What?
2. Why?
3. Where?
4. Whom?
5. When?
6. How?

Another very commonly used ending punctuation mark is the exclamation point. It is used when the sentence is trying to express a feeling.

For example:

1. Wow, that car goes really fast!
2. I am going to a big party tonight!
3. I love my new shoes!
4. That is my favorite color!

See how these sentences portrayed some feelings of excitement and joy.

These early punctuation lessons are very important and the kid must have a strong grip on these in order to be good at the upcoming grammar.

Learn Sides and Shapes | Math for Kids | Geometry | Kids Academy

A shape is defined as the form or the outline of an object. It can also be defined as the boundary of an object and the kind of pattern it follows. It is a basic property of every object just like its other properties like color, texture, size etc.

Different objects follow different patterns of these boundaries. These patterns have been given different names. Shapes for kids is a very important lesson, so we have made this educational video for kids.

For example, a pattern which has four equal sides is referred to as a square. A pattern with round is referred to a circle. Similarly, there are other shapes like a rectangle, triangle, cone etc. Each object is categized based on its shape. These shapes have been made for the understanding of man and to make a sense out of things. Every object in this universe has a shape just like earth is a sphere and a ball is a circle.

Letter K | Learn the Alphabet | Kids Academy

Show Them The Letter First

First, work on the visual representation of the letter “K” and for this, you need to show the kids the letter written somewhere.

Show Them How To Write The Letter “K”

Once you are done painting an image in the child’s brain of the letter “K”, you then have to teach him how to write it from scratch.

Note: You can use different colors and crayons etc to make the letter “K” more interesting for the kids.

Teach Them The Sound Of The Letter “K”

“K” is the letter that comes with little to no vibration and you cannot stretch the sound of this letter like the other letters. “K” comes with two sounds;

-It can sound as “Kay”
-It can sound as “Khey”

You can teach them both the sounds with the help of some examples.

This is the process of teaching your little one the letter “K”. Just follow these steps and make sure to be patient while your kid is trying to learn these letters and understand you.

Subtracting Within 100 | Base Ten Blocks and Standard Subtraction | Kids Academy

Tens and ones are the basic building blocks of subtraction. It makes subtraction a lot easier for the kids to learn. The concept is pretty simple. We have two categories, the tens and the ones.

In a two-digit number, the number on the left side is the tens and the number on the right side is the ones. When you have to subtract two numbers, you put tens under tens and ones under ones of both numbers.

So how does the kid learn this? Let’s make it simpler for them. You can draw a line with ten blocks and refer to it as tens, while the single blocks will be the ones. To subtract we will count the number of tens and the number of one's blocks in the picture and make a question. Similarly, the tens and the ones of the number which has to be deleted will be placed under the previous number respectively. And then we do the simple subtraction.
And that’s simply how you will know the answer which is correct. You can also use some toy blocks to make it more interesting for the kid while making the concept easier for them. Kids learn better with the things that they can relate and there is nothing better than their toys to make them learn.

It's Kids Academy, and welcome back to our channel! In this educational video for kids, we will read aloud children fairy tale "My friend the dragon". This story for kids is about kindness and friendship. More interesting short stories and nursery rhymes you can find on our channel. Stay tuned!

My Friend the Dragon
Once upon a time, a huge dragon lived on an island in the blue sea. When he was swimming in the sea, all the fish hid away from him.
Sometimes the dragon came ashore near a fishing village. He liked to sit on the rocks there.
Every time people saw the dragon, they ran away in fear. For them, he looked very big and scary.
The dragon got used to being alone, but once on the shore he saw a girl. The girl was surprised to see everyone else flee from him.
“Where are they running?” she asked.
“For cover,” said the dragon. “They are afraid of me.”
“Oh, are they,” the girl said. “Are you that evil?”
“No, I’m kind,” he said, “But people prefer to keep away from dragons. That is why I have no friends. I feel so lonely.”
“Well,” said the girl, “If you’re a kind dragon, I can be your friend.”
From then on, they would often walk along the shore and throw colorful pebbles into the water.
One day they saw a fishing boat sinking in the sea. The people on the boat were shouting out for help.
“Our neighbors are in trouble!” cried the girl. “Dear dragon, please, help them!”
The dragon dived into the sea and brought the boat back to the shore on his big back. The rescued fishermen thanked him warmly for his help.
From that day forward, people were no longer afraid of the dragon.
