Unit Fraction । fractions for kids । What are unit fractions?
Unit Fraction । fractions for kids । What are unit fractions? Teacherflix 11 Views • 2 years ago

Learn the basic of fraction, the unit fraction.

Unit fractions are fractions where the numerator is 1 and the denominator is a positive integer. They represent one part of a whole, where the whole is divided into equal parts. For example, fractions like 1/2, 1/3, 1/4, 1/5, etc., are all unit fractions.

Unit fractions are important in understanding the concept of fractions and are often introduced to children as they begin to learn about numbers and basic arithmetic. They provide a simple way to grasp the idea of fractions by showing that a whole can be divided into smaller, equal parts.

Here's a simple explanation suitable for kids:

Imagine you have a pizza. When you cut that pizza into equal slices, each slice represents a fraction of the whole pizza. If you cut the pizza into 2 equal slices, each slice is 1/2 of the pizza. If you cut it into 3 equal slices, each slice is 1/3 of the pizza. In each case, the numerator is 1 because you're talking about just one of those equal parts, and the denominator tells you how many total parts the whole is divided into.

Unit fractions are fractions where the numerator is fixed at 1, and the denominator varies. In other words, a unit fraction represents one equal part of a whole divided into a specified number of parts.

And so on. In each case, the numerator is 1, indicating one part, while the denominator indicates the total number of equal parts into which the whole is divided. Unit fractions are fundamental in understanding fractions and are often used as building blocks for more complex fraction operations.

So, in short, unit fractions are fractions where you're talking about just one part of a whole that's been divided into equal parts.

Why Did These Ancient People Abandon Copper?
Why Did These Ancient People Abandon Copper? Teacherflix 5 Views • 7 months ago

Most cultures who developed metalworking technology never let the skill go to waste. But in what's now Michigan, Native Americans started making metal tools well before anyone else did, and then stopped. And the reason why this happened is hiding in the very metal that they were working: Copper. Thanks to Alexis Dahl for joining us on this episode. As more and more parents are choosing not to vaccinate their children or are vaccinating them later, diseases like measles are making a comeback. What's behind this antivax movement? Are vaccines safe? How do vaccines work? Why do some people claim there is a link between vaccines and autism? This week we look at why are people afraid of something that has saved so many lives, and the history and science of vaccines. #vaccine #antivax #measles

A cosmic love story, starring a guy named Carl Sagan
Click here to SUBSCRIBE, it's FREE! -- http://bit.ly/iotbs_sub

Love is a complicated combination of brain chemicals and behavior that scientists are only just beginning to figure out. And it's remarkable that in every society that we have looked at on Earth, romantic love exists. So if love is so universal, and there are 7 billion other people out there looking for it, why can it seem like it's so hard to find?

In this episode, we'll look at what we can learn about the search for love from the search for extraterrestrial life. We'll start with Enrico Fermi's paradox of why we haven't been contacted by any extraterrestrials yet, and then at Frank Drake's equation to estimate the number of civilizations that might exist in our galaxy (updated with current numbers). Finally, we'll meet a young lady named Ann and see if we can calculate how many special someones there might be out there for her. It's a cosmic love story!

How Does the Earth Create Different Landforms? Crash Course Geography #20
How Does the Earth Create Different Landforms? Crash Course Geography #20 Teacherflix 18 Views • 2 years ago

Cliffs and canyons, beaches and dunes, floodplains and river valleys, plateaus and mountains — these are all products of a restless Earth. In today’s episode we’re going to take a closer look at how landforms greatly influence how people live and derive meaning and a sense of place. From the hills and ponds we see everyday to impressive landscapes like Uluru in Australia or the Kamchatka Peninsula in Russia they all have stories to tell.
