In this video I will talk about three types of circulation found in the human body. lymphatic circulation and two types of blood circulation. Pulmonary circulation and systemic circulation.
Let’s look at blood circulation first.
Your blood is responsible for carrying oxygen, waste, sugar, and other important items throughout your body.
In order to carry oxygen and eliminate carbon dioxide it must travel to the lungs. Pulmonary circulation is when blood travels to the lungs and back. Blood enters the right atrium from the superior and inferior vena cava. It travels to the right ventricle and into the lungs through the pulmonary arteries. In the lungs oxygen is exchanged for carbon dioxide at tiny air sacs called alveoli and then returns to the heart through the pulmonary veins.
Up next is systemic circulation which is circulation throughout the body. As blood returns from the lungs it enters the left atrium then travels to the right ventricle then passes out the aorta and into the rest of the body. This circulation is called systemic circulation.
Three types of vessels are used for blood circulation.
An artery is a blood vessel that takes blood away from the heart to all parts of the body (tissues, lungs, etc). Most arteries carry oxygenated blood Arteries are usually shown as red vessels.
Veins are blood vessels that carry blood toward the heart. Most veins carry deoxygenated blood from the tissues back to the heart both of which carry oxygenated blood to the heart. Veins are usually shown as blood.
Capillaries are tiny vessels that connect arteries and veins.
The third type of circulation is called lymphatic circulation.
The lymphatic system absorbs and transports lymph. Lymph is a clear fluid that is a result of plasma leaking out of capillaries.As plasma moves out of capillaries, some of it is not reabsorbed. You lose around three liters of the plasma a day. The lymphatic system reabsorbs lose fluid.
If you look at this cross section of a tissue you can notice how the lymphatic vessel is located near the vein.
Once this plasma that has leaked out of capillaries and enters lymphatic vessels it is called lymph
Lymph also includes protein and cellular debris which are too large to be collected by veins and capillaries.
The lymphatic vessels have smooth muscle and valves that help move the lymph throughout your body.

Learn how to find the LCM (Least common multiple) using a factor tree.
The LCM is the smallest integer that two or more numbers divide evenly into.
For example, the lcm of 6 and 8 equals 24
In the video, I find the LCM for 16 and 24
LCM for 15 and 28
LCM for 30 12 8
A factor tree is a simple mathematical method to find all of the prime numbers of a specific number.
Once you know all of the prime numbers you multiply the prime numbers together and remove duplicates.
Once I know the factors of 6 and 8 I can easily find the least common multiple of 8 and 6.
Use this video in order to practice identifying minerals. I have 7 minerals and I test their streak, hardness, color, magnetism, and luster.

Twenty or thirty minutes of exercise can make you increase your focus, motivation to learn, and improve your mood.
Regular exercise can increase these three neurotransmitters
In very simple terms dopamine impacts your level of motivation. Low levels of dopamine can result in low levels of motivation
High levels increase motivation.
Motivation is key to learning new material
Serotonin impacts your mood, anger, and depression. Low levels can lead to depression and higher levels can improve your mood which impacts your ability to learn
Norepinephrine naw·reh·puh·neh·fruhn impacts your ability to focus
Low levels led to dull focus, high levels sharpen your focus
20 or 30 minutes of aerobic exercise has been described as miracle gro for the brain.
So let’s apply this knowledge with a couple of suggestions to help you start brainstorming
Before your next study session get your heart rate elevated for 20 or 30 minutes then start studying
Take your flashcards on a brisk walk and memorize while walking
While studying take exercise breaks while you study. It could be as simple as dancing, or jumping jacks during the break.

The ocean has many currents underneath the surface. One way these currents are created is by the difference in temperature of the water. Cold water is denser than warm or hot water and will flow underneath the warmer water.
This circulation of the ocean caused by changes in temperature is called Thermohaline circulation (THC)
Thermohaline circulation results as a result of differences in the density of the different temperatures of the water. These differences result in ocean stratification.
In this video, I use a container that is divided into two chambers to show how water flows.

Steps for cloning an animal
How Dolly the sheep was cloned and what we learned.
20 years ago Dolly the step was cloned from two sheets.
Here is how they cloned this sheep.
First, they took cells from the udder of one sheep. They grew these cells in the lab.
Next, they took the egg from another sheep and removed the nucleus.
These stopped cells were fused together and inserted into a female sheep who gave birth.

In this video I would like to talk about the history of microscopes.During the 1590s, the two spectacle-makers, Hans and Zacharias Jansen began experimenting. They put lenses in a tube and made a very important discovery. They discovered that objects near the end of the tube appeared to be enlarged, much larger than any simple magnifying glass could achieve alone.
In the 1660’s Robert Hooke began looking at all kinds of objects with his microscope.
He put all of his drawings in a book called Micrographia
He is credited with naming cells but also studied items like fleas under his microscope.
Anton van Leeuwenhoek was very good at grinding and polishing lenses.
These lenses led to the building of his microscope which was considered the first practical microscope.
In 1674 Anton Van Leeuwenhoek was the first to see and describe bacteria.
Another huge advance in microscopes didn’t occur until German physicist Ernst Ruska and the electrical engineer Max Knoll constructed the prototype electron microscope in 1931, capable of four-hundred-power magnification.
Electron microscopes uses accelerated electrons in order to view objects.
Modern electron microscopes can magnify objects up to 10 million times

What happens during metaphase?
In this video, I would like to talk about the stage of mitosis called metaphase.
Mitosis consists of four stages and I always remember mitosis using PMAT

During metaphase the sister chromatids align in the middle of the cell.
However for this to happen a couple of things need to happen during prophase
During prophase the chromatin condenses into x shaped chromosomes.
Each half of the x is a sister chromatid and identical copies of the DNA
The two sides of the x shaped chromosome are attached at the centromere.
During metaphase spindle fibers appear These fibers create something called the spindle apparatus.
It consists of spindle fibers, centrioles, and another fiber called aster fibers
In plants, the centrioles are missing.
These spindle apparatus move to the poles of the cell.
The spindle fibers attach to the centromeres of the sister chromatids at the kinetochore.
After the spindle fiber is attached at the kinetochore the sister chromatid is pulled along the spindle apparatus and eventually end up in the middle of the cell.
Metaphase is the shortest stage of mitosis but is important because it helps ensure that new cells have correct copies of the chromosomes.

Learn the basics of Lichen and Moss. In many places on Earth, you will find Lichen and Moss living beside each other. Although they may look similar they are very different. Lichen are actually a symbiotic relationship between fungi and cyanobacteria. Moss are nonvascular plants.
Ocean stratification results when ocean water with different densities forms layers due to their properties. In this video, I show how differences in salinity can create ocean stratification which may result in ocean currents.
In the salinity demonstration, I have a container divided into two halves. On one side I have fresh water and the other I have very salty water. The two types of water are separated by a divider. When I lift the divider the salty water flows under the warm water and creates a current.
There are several diferent types of estuaries.
An estuary is a body of water that has fresh water entering and is also open to the ocean. An estuary is a semi-enclosed, coastal body of water, that is connected to the open sea, with fresh water draining into it.
If you look at the state of Georgia you can see the Savannah river run through it. The Savannah river dumps into the Atlantic ocean and creates an estuary. Here is what a small portion of this estuary looks like.
Estuaries are known for their brackish water which is a combination of salt and fresh water. Estuaries have been called the "Nurseries of the Sea." because of the many phytoplankton that is found there help the food chain and provide food for many organisms.
A keystone species has a large impact on their habitat given their size and numbers. Their daily activities impact all kinds of other species.
A keystone is a central stone at the summit of an arch, locking the whole together.
A keystone species helps keep the entire ecosystem together
When beavers build their dam and lodge they basically create their own wetlands which impact many other organisms.
In addition, as the number of beavers increase the biodiversity of the ecosystem increases, and also the inverse fewer beavers less biodiversity
You may have heard the expression “ Busy as a beaver?”
That is because they, well stay busy building stuff.
Beavers build dams and a lodge to live in.
The dam transforms a stream or creek into a wetland.
