Basic Division.
Do you know why we divide? We divide to distribute things equally.
There are 8 carrots, they need to be divided equally among 4 rabbits. How many carrots will each rabbit get?
First take away 4 carrots so that each rabbit gets 1 carrot each. 4 carrots are still left.
Take away these also one by one. No more carrots are left. All the carrots are distributed and each rabbit has 2 carrots.
We have taken away 4 carrots 2 times. This can be written as 8 minus 4 is equal to 4. 4 minus 4 is equal to 0.
Thus, 8 divided by 4 is equal to 2.
This means for equal distribution, that is, for division, we do repeated subtraction and the answer is the number of times we subtract the same number.

Quantitative data is numerical
Qualitative Data id descriptive data
Let’s look at examples of both
Examples of quantitative data would be
The number of pets, time of day, the temperature outside
Quantitative data can be graphed
If you count or measure, you are collecting quantitative data
There are two types of quantitative data, discrete and continuous
Discrete data is usually data you can count and continuous data is usually data you measure. I have a separate video on these two types of data.
Qualitative is descriptive or observations and uses words
For example, the color of a house, smell of a sock, texture of a shirt
Quantitative or Qualitative
Consider a cat
Quantitative Data would be the cat has 4 legs and weighs 10 pounds
Qualitative data would be the cat is yellow, and has soft fur
A bookshelf
Quantitative would be you have 50 books and is 150 centimeters tall.

Making liquid nitrogen is hard - in fact up until 150 years ago scientists doubted whether it was even possible to liquefy nitrogen. In 1823, At the royal institution in London, Michael Faraday first produced liquid chlorine, kind of accidentally by putting it under high pressure. He similarly liquefied ammonia.

Borrowing a mixture from Thilorier in France, a combination of dry ice, snow and ether, he reached a temperature of -110C. By 1845 he used this mixture plus a hand pump to pressurize gases to liquefy all the known gases except six, which included oxygen and nitrogen. These became known as the “permanent” gases.

A French Physicist Aimé compressed oxygen and nitrogen in tanks and then lowered them into the ocean over 1.6km deep, where the pressure got up to 200 atmospheres. Still the gases didn’t liquefy.

Only at the end of 1877 were the first droplets of liquid oxygen and liquid nitrogen produced, by Cailletet in France. He first tried oxygen by compressing it up to 300 atmospheres, cooled to -30C, but that wasn't even enough to liquefy oxygen. But when he suddenly released the pressure, the expanding gas cooled, he estimated to -200C and he saw a mist and then droplets slide down the walls of his vessel.

It's amazing how far we've come in that now I can purchase a helium-based cryocooler. It compresses and expands the gas to absorb heat from the tip of the cold finger and eject it into the surroundings at ambient temperature.

An atom is composed of a dense core called the nucleus containing protons and neutrons and a series of outer shells occupied by orbiting electrons
An electron shell may be thought of as an orbit that the electrons follow. The closest shell to the nucleus is called the "1 shell" also called "K shell", followed by the "2 shells" "L shell"), then the "3 shells" (or "M shell"), and so on.

A valence electron is an outer shell electron that is associated with an atom, and the formation of a chemical bond
Each shell can contain only a fixed number of electrons: For the first 18 elements, the valence electrons follow these rules. The first shell can hold up to two electrons, the second shell can hold up to eight electrons, the third shell can hold up to 8 The transition metals vary from these guidelines.
You can use the periodic table for the groups 1,2,13,14,15,16,17,18 in order to find the number of valence electrons in the outer shell with the exception of helium. For example, all elements in group two have 2 electrons in the outer shell.
Elements in the same period have the same number of energy shells. Period 2 will have two energy shells.
So let’s go through the elements
Up first is period 1 Element 1 is Hydrogen in group 1 and contains one energy shell and 1 electron
Element 2 Helium period 1 group 18 and is the one exception because it has 2 valence electrons in the outer shell

Now period 2 which each have 2 energy shells.
Lithium found in group 1 has 2 electrons in k shell and 1 valence electron in L
Beryllium is found in group 2 and has 2 electrons in k shell and 2 valence electrons in L
Boron Is found in group 13 and has 2 electrons in k and 3 valence electrons in L
Carbon Is found in group 14 and has 2 electrons in k and 4 valence electrons in L
Nitrogen Is found in group 15 and has 2 electrons in k and 5 valence electrons in L
Oxygen Is found in group 16 and has 2 electrons in k and 6 valence electrons in L
Fluorine Is found in group 17 and has 2 electrons in k and 7 valence electrons in L
Neon Is found in group 18 and has 2 electrons in k and 8 valence electrons in L
Now let’s move on to period 3 with 3 electron shells
Sodium Is found in group 1 and has 2 electrons in k and 8 electrons in L and 1 valence electron in m
Magnesium Is found in group 2 and has 2 electrons in k and 8 electrons in L and 2 valence electrons in m shell.

Everything is not as it first appears. This simple plastic ball looks purple until you swing it in a circle and reveal its true nature. Inside are three light emitting diodes (LEDs), which are red, green and blue. They turn on and off in sequence very quickly. When still, the ball appears purple because your eyes and brain don't 'refresh' quickly enough to perceive the changing colours. However, when swung in a circle, the ball changes colours at different locations so the colours don't merge with each other and the ball's true nature is revealed. Now let's not think too carefully about how this illusion is conveyed through video (because the camera doesn't refresh quickly enough to perceive the colours changing either - so you have no hope of seeing it on YouTube even frame by frame).

This dance is not an orderly ballet - more like a skating rink filled with drunk toddlers. This chaos makes the galaxy dangerous. Our solar neighbourhood is constantly changing, with stars moving hundreds of kilometers every second.

Only the vast distances between objects protect us from the dangers out there. But we might get unlucky in the future. At some point we could encounter a star going supernova. Or a massive object passing by and showering earth with asteroids.

If something like this were to happen we would likely know thousands, if not millions of years in advance. But we still couldn’t do much about it.

Unless… we move our whole solar system out of the way.

In this lesson, you will learn what it means for an equation to be represented in "quadratic form". This means that the equation has the general form of a quadratic function, but the variables may be slightly more complex expressions.
