How Many Faces, Edges And Vertices Does A Square Pyramid Have?
Here we’ll look at how to work out the faces, edges and vertices of a square pyramid.
We’ll start by counting the faces, these are the flat surfaces that make the pyramid. A square pyramid has 5 faces altogether - 4 triangular faces, as well as 1 rectangular face.
Next we’ll work out how many edges the pyramid has, which are where two faces meet. A square pyramid has 8 edges.
Next we’ll count the corners of the pyramid (the corners). A square pyramid has 5 vertices.

In this math lesson we explore how to increase or decrease an amount by a given percentage - through simple multiplication.
The method for doing this type of percentage problem is as follows, where we find 35 increased by 20%.
First we start with the whole amount - in this case 35. Percentages describe a number expressed as a fraction of 100, so as 35 is the whole amount it is 100% or 100/100 or 1. To take off 20% we are taking off 20/100 or 0.2 of this - so 1 - 0.2 = 0.8.
0.8 of 35 is the same as 0.8 x 35 = 28.0.

Decimals are easy to multiply - just count the number of places behing the decimal place for each of the numbers you are multiplying, then add these together to get the total number of decimal places required for your answer.
For example:
1.5 (1) x 1.5 (1) = 2.25 (2) The numbers of decimal praces are shown in brackets.

This looks at how to do simple subtraction in maths.
No tricks, no fuss.
This is one of the most basic things in maths - yet as a senior level maths teacher I am astounded how many people lack this ability - and as such they struggle throughout their school years at maths.
Addition, subtraction, division and multiplication - these are the most important thing anyone should know in maths , yet a large number of people who still are yet to attain this skill!
Practice this lesson!

This amazing multiplication trick possible has it's origins in Japan -although I have heard arguements it is a Vedic math trick.
Either way - this trick allows you to multiply two numbers quickly and accurately, using a handy visual method - lines.
This method does not use any multiplication tables, making it accessible to all learners.
Part 2 of this video (how to multiply using lines with fives and zeros) is here:

Vedic Maths is series of mathematical tricks, originating in a book written by an Indian monk Swami Bharati Krishna Tirtha in 1965. It contained a list of mental calculation techniques which were claimed to be retrieved from the Vedas - are a large body of religious texts originating in ancient India.
Please if you are learning this, however, do not treat multiplication as a mere trick. It is important to remember 17 x 13 for example, is the repeated adding of 17, 13 times (17 + 17 + 17 + 17...).
This method is a shortcut, but as the end proof shows, it is using a shuffling of required calculations to make this multiplication more efficient.
For 17 x 13, we have lots of multiplication going on (that is repeated addition!) - 10 x 10 and 3 x 10 and 7 x 10 (lots of 10s - 20 all up) - and 7 x 3.

Solve simultaneous equations using the elimination method.
The steps are as follows:
The Elimination Method
Step 1: Multiply each equation by a number so that the two equations have the same coefficient for a selected variable.
Step 2: Subtract the second equation from the first.
Step 3: Solve this new equation to get the value of your first variable.
Step 4: Substitute into either Equation 1 or Equation 2 above and solve for the second variable.

Linear equations are equations between two variables that gives a straight line when plotted on a graph. For example y = 2x + 1 is a linear equation - and as we will see it goes up by a regular amount and when we graph it it will be expressed as a straight line.
We will also look at how to easily recognise a linear equation and a non linear equation, through the use of three simple observations that can be made about the equation.
An easy quick math lesson for you.
