In this lesson, you will learn to multiply fractions quickly and easily.
To multiply fractions you multiply across the numerators (the top number of a fraction) and multiply across the denominators (the bottom number).
An example I always use to start this off is multiply 1/2 with a 1/2. The numerators multiply to give 1 (1 x1), the denominators multiply to give 4 (2x2). Hence a 1/2 multiplied by a 1/2 is 1/4.
What about if you multiply 2/3x1/4?
Top number (2x1), bottom number (3x4).

Lattice multiplication is a multiplication method that allows you multiply any two numbers quickly using a table.
It is especially useful in multiplying large numbers, with less mess and confusion than standard long multiplication.
This method has many names - Lattice multiplication, gelosia multiplication, the Hindu lattice, sieve multiplication as well as Venetian squares.

Trigonometry is an easy way to work out the unknown sides and angles of a right angled triangle. To work out the fraction of an amount, first of all it is essential to convert the fraction to a decimal.
To do this divide the numerator (top number) by the denominator (bottom number). eg - 1/5 = 0.2 Then times this answer by the amount you wish to find a fraction of.
e.g 1/5 of 20 = 0.2 x 20 = 4
To work out the percentage of an amount, it is also essential to first convert the percentage to a decimal.
To do this move the decimal place left two spaces - eg - 25% = 0.25 Then times this answer by the amount you wish to find apercentage of.
