Nursery rhymes provide valuable language experiences for young children. But that’s not all! Simple songs teach science and math vocabulary and even social studies concepts. Kids Academy brings three fun nursery rhymes in English to your toddler or preschooler to enjoy.
Teachers and parents may take the old favorite Old MacDonald Had a Farm for granted. But this song is rich in learning experiences. Children see and become familiar with farm animals and how they contribute to us all. The cow gives milk, the chickens lay eggs and the sheep provide the farmer with wool- and sport some trendy hair-dos after being sheared! Later in primary school, students learn about these concepts as part of their social studies curriculum. This video shows the Old MacDonald Had a Farm lyrics to read and follow along with for emergent readers!
The next video features the popular Five Little Monkeys song. In this version, the monkeys live in the jungle and fall out of their bed in the trees. Momma monkey-complete with hair curlers in her hair- calls Dr. Rhino in the middle of the night to report the problem. The song story is fun to sing along with and watch, and children learn the language for numbers and counting backward.
Continue with the next video, The Wheels on the Bus. This song is rich with vocabulary and expressive language. Learn the English words for Mama, Daddy, baby, Driver. Kids won’t realize it, but they learn onomatopoeia and say words for sounds in the song: swish, waa, beep. Another benefit of this song is that it is an action song. Kids sing and move and develop motor skills.
Nursery rhymes have many cognitive benefits. Most importantly is that these songs make children happy! Bring these fun videos into your home and classroom to enjoy!

This chemistry video tutorial provides a basic introduction into acids and bases. It explains how to identify acids and bases in addition to how they react with water. It discusses how to identify the conjugate acid and conjugate base of molecules. Finally, it covers the pH scale and provides some equations and formulas needed to perform common acid base calculations such as calculating the pH or pOH of the solution. It also discusses the difference between strong acids and weak acids. Strong acids ionizes completely and require a single arrow in a chemical reaction. Weak acids ionizes partially in solution and require a double arrow to indicate equilibrium or reversibility in a chemical reaction. This video contains plenty of examples.

This chemistry video lecture tutorial focuses on thermochemistry. It provides a list of formulas and equations that you need to know as well as the appropriate units. It provides a nice review covering topics such as the internal energy of a system, the surroundings, endothermic vs exothermic processes, work, pressure, and volume. It explains the difference between work done on the system vs work done by the system. It also shows you how to calculate q, the amount of heat absorbed or released by a system for processes that involve a temperature change or a phase change including the specific heat capacity concept of water. This video also discusses thermochemical equations and reactions and how to do thermochemical stoichiometry and conversions. This video contains plenty of examples and practice problems.

This organic chemistry video tutorial explains difference between chiral molecules and achiral molecules and how to find them by drawing a line of symmetry. It shows you how to identify the chirality centers or carbon atoms with 4 different groups as well as determining the number of stereoisomers using the formula 2^n where n is the number of stereocenters or asymmetric carbon atoms. This video also helps you to identify a pair of meso compounds which are identical to each other and a possess an internal plane of symmetry. It also discusses how to find a pair of enantiomers which are non-superimposable mirror images of each other such as your left hand and your right hand. Enantiomers lack an internal plane of symmetry.
