This calculus video tutorial explains how to find the local maximum and minimum values of a function. In order to determine the relative extrema, you need to find the first derivative, set it equal to zero, and solve for x which represents the critical numbers of the function. You need to put these numbers on a number line and create a sign chart. According to the first derivative test, if the sign changes from - to +, it's a relative maximum. If it changes from + to -, it's a relative minimum. This video contains plenty of examples and practice problems for you to work on.

Community is an important social studies standard for kindergarten and first grade. Learning about communities as a kindergartener or a 1st grader needs to be meaningful for kids, and something they can relate to in their own worlds and lifestyles.
In this charming video compilation that teaches about communities for kindergarten and communities for 1st grade, your child will be able to answer the question, โWhat is a community?โ When learning about community, kids learn how they and their family and friends fit in bigger pictures of their world and in their bigger communities at large.
Theyโll learn that a community is a place where people live together, full of many places to visit and many people to see. Theyโll individually walk through the colorful worksheets that ask them, โWhat Is A Neighbor?โ and โWhat Do You See In A Community,โ as well as learn social studies for kindergarten and first grade standards.
As they travel through the various community-focused activities, theyโll also learn about neighbors for grade 1, and that neighbors live near each other in communities. This video also walks students through various worksheets that teach about kindergarten community concepts and 1st grade community concepts, including what makes a home a home for people in a community. The video also helps reinforce important family sight words like mother, father, sister and brother, and with engaging pictures and the teacherโs clear descriptions, makes community for kids a concept with which they can identify.
As our children continue to cement their places in the bigger, global community, helping them understand community terms and concepts in their own little worlds allows them to be knowledgeable citizens and good neighbors in their neighborhoods, classrooms, towns and countries. Kids Academy videos are the perfect way to show students how to understand and fit in their own communities.

Do you know where the "We Can Do It!" poster came from? In Who Was Rosie the Riveter? for Kids, you'll learn about the history of the poster and its significance during World War II. You may be wondering what exactly a riveter is. Well, it's someone who job is to fasten or secure things using rivets. You can find rivets on the hulls of ships or on airplanes where the metal skin attaches to the wings.
Before the war, mostly men worked factory jobs doing mechanical work, including the job of riveting. Once the US joined the war, most of the factory workers went to fight in the war. That meant there were lots of jobs that needed to be filled, especially since many of the things the military needed were the things factories produced. So who was left to fill those rolls? Women!
A campaign to recruit female workers began, and Rosie the Riveter was born! Redd Evans and John Jacob Loeb wrote the song entitled "Rosie the Riveter" in 1942, basing it off of a woman named Rosalind P. Walker. Rosalind was working at a factory that made fighter airplanes for the military. The famous poster was created in 1942 by J. Howard Miller to encourage people to work together to help the US win the war. It later became associated with the Rosie the Riveter campaign, which is why most people now associate the poster with Rosie the Riveter!
We hope you and your student(s) enjoyed learning about Rosie the Riveter! If you want to learn even more, head over to our website and download one of our many free lesson plans about famous women in history, full of activities, worksheets, and more!

This physics video tutorial provides a basic introduction into RL circuits which are made of inductors and resistors. It explains how to calculate the instantaneous current at any time as well as the maximum current after the switch has been closed for a long time. It discusses how to calculate the time constant given the inductance and the resistance and how to determine how many time constants is required for the inductor to be 99.4% charged. This video explains how to calculate the voltage across the inductor and the resistor as well as the battery. It explains how to determine the instantaneous rate at which energy is being consumed by the resistor and the inductor. The emf induced by the inductor is dependent on the rate at which the current is changing in the circuit. This video contains plenty of examples and practice problems.
