Lyrics:

Where is our class pet?
Oh, where could she be?
We’re looking and looking
Searching for clues
Where is...
Jelly Bean?

We’ve lost the class pet
We’ve lost Jelly Bean
She’s the softest thing
She squeaks when she sings

We’ve lost the class pet
We’ve lost Jelly Bean
She has such tiny feet
Oh where could she be?

We’ve lost the class pet
We’ve lost Jelly Bean
She’s the softest thing
She squeaks when she sings

We’ve lost the class pet
We’ve lost Jelly Bean
She has such tiny feet
Oh where could she be?

We’ve lost the class pet
We’ve lost Jelly Bean
She’s the softest thing
She squeaks when she sings

Jelly Bean!

This is our class pet
We found Jelly Bean
She has such tiny feet
She’s cuddly and sweet!

What is the difference between bacteria and viruses? In Bacteria and Viruses for Kids, you will learn all about these two microorganisms. The first thing you will learn is that not all bacteria are bad. In fact, the majority of bacteria on the planet and in your body are actually good. You can find bacteria in things like yogurt, soy sauce, and pickles!

So what are bacteria? They are single-celled organisms so small that you can't see them without a microscope. They don't have a nucleus like other single-celled Common shapes include rods, spirals, and spheres. All these organisms move in different ways too. Some move like swimmers using tail-like structures called flagella. Others stay still and don't move much at all. Then there are some that slither or slide their way around.

Most bacteria are not harmful. However, there are some that can make you sick. These are called pathogens. Common pathogens include food poisoning, leprosy, and typhoid fever. To fight these pathogens, you can use antibiotics or antiseptics. You can actually find antiseptics in soaps because it's how you keep your hands clean. Good bacteria, on the other hand, are good for many reasons. They help you digest food and keep your immune system strong. They also break down dead plant and animal material to help keep soil healthy. And, they produce about half of the oxygen in the atmosphere!

What about viruses? All viruses are bad. Scientists debate whether these organisms are living or dead because they don't have an organized cell structure and can't reproduce unless they attach themselves to a living cell. The word virus comes from the Latin word for "slimy liquid." These organisms attack healthy cells. As those cells reproduce, the virus reproduces too and spreads. Many kinds can pass from person to person through hand-shaking, food contact, and through water.

In which John Green teaches you about the United States as it was in the 1990s. You'll remember from last week that the old-school Republican George H.W. Bush had lost the 1992 presidential election to a young upstart Democrat from Arkansas named Bill Clinton. Clinton was a bit of a dark horse candidate, having survived a sex scandal during the election, but a third-party run by Ross Perot split the vote, and Clinton was inaugurated in 1993. John will teach you about Clinton's foreign policy agenda, which included NATO action in the Balkans and the Oslo Accords between Israel and the PLO. He'll also cover some of the domestic successes and failures of the Clinton years, including the failed attempt at healthcare reform, the pretty terrible record on GLBTQ issues, Welfare reform, which got mixed reviews, and the happier issues like the huge improvements in the economy. Also computers. Cheap, effective, readily available computers came along in the 1990s, and they kind of changed the world, culminating in this video, which is the end of the internet. Until next week.

Hey teachers and students - Check out CommonLit's free collection of reading passages and curriculum resources to learn more about the events of this episode. I explain why it is called a square root, and also how a square root works.

#mathematics #DoS

Clarifications:
To keep this video simple I decided to not talk about complex numbers. But perhaps I should have mentioned complex numbers when talking about the square root of negative numbers.

When I said "you can never have a square root of a negative number", I guess I could have said "you can never have a square root of a negative number, unless you use complex numbers."

Cool, well I'm still learning! And thanks for keeping me in check. :D

This long division math youtube video tutorial explains how to divide big numbers the easy way. It explains how to perform long division with 2-digit divisors with remainders. This video contains plenty of examples and practice problems. It's useful for beginners and for kids in 4th grade or 3rd grade. My recommendation is to make a list of the multiples of the divisor from 1 to 10 and use it perform the long division problem. The video will explain everything.

In which John Green teaches you about World War 2, as it was lived on the home front. You'll learn about how the war changed the country as a whole, and changed how Americans thought about their country. John talks about the government's control of war production, and how the war probably helped to end the Great Depression. Broader implementation of the income tax, the growth of large corporations, and the development of the West Coast as a manufacturing center were also results of the war. The war positively changed the roles of women and African Americans, but it was pretty terrible for the Japanese Americans who were interred in camps. In short, World War II changed America's role in the world, changed American life at home, and eventually spawned the History Channel.
