Q & A reptiles
Hello Happy friends, are you ready to learn?
Iโm Sarah, and today, weโre going to play a Q.A game about reptiles.
Letโs start
Do you know what the word reptile means? Letโs look at three options
That they move with their tummy very close to the ground
That their body is covered in scales
That they have a very long tongue
Exactly! The word reptile meals that these animals move with their stomach touching the ground.
Reptiles always crawl when theyโre moving, that means, that their tummy is touching, or very close to the ground, like this snake! Or this lizardโฆ Or this crocodile! They also have their bodies covered in strong and resistant scales to protect themselves, and cold blood!
Well, now we know what the word Reptile means, but do you know how they reproduce?
They are oviparous, they are born from the eggs laid by their mothersโฆ orโฆ
They are viviparous, they are born from their motherโs womb.
Exactly! They are oviparous!
All reptiles are born from the eggs that their mothers have laid. When they develop and come out, they look exactly the same as their parents, but tiny. Here you can see miniature crocodiles, most of them are carnivores and some of them have venom in their teeth, like this snake.
The truth is that when reptiles are small, they are super cute, but when they are olderโฆ there are some that are very scaryโฆ
Donโt you think so?
Well, letโs go for the last question! Which one of these animals is a reptile?
A frog
A tortoise
I knew it! The tortoise!
Tortoises are reptiles, although lots of people get them confused with amphibians. As you can see in the images, tortoises have their body full of scales, they reproduce through eggs and although lots of them live in the water, they breathe through lungs.
-
Itโs clear that tortoises are reptiles, Crystal clear?
I hope youโve answered all questions correctly, but if you havenโt, itโs okay, the most important thing is that youโve learnt!
Goodbye Happy Friends, See you next time!
I hope youโre always ready to learn!
Goodbyee!

So we've been talking about civil rights for the last few episodes now, and we're finally going to wrap this discussion up with the rather controversial topic of affirmative action. We'll explain what exactly affirmative action is, who it is for, and why it still exists. Now, affirmative action is a pretty problematic concept. So we'll get into the court's rationalization for it in the 70s as well as its fall from favor in more recent years. Now, people tend to have pretty strong, and varying opinions, about this stuff - so we'll start talking about how these opinions are informed next week when we start our discussion on politics.

K-12: GRADE 5 - LEAST COMMON MULTIPLE (LCM) USING CONTINUOUS DIVISION
IES 2023 Math Summit - โA Tale of Two Systems: Bridging the Divide between Kโ12 Math Education and Postsecondary Admissionsโ
Description: Mathematics plays an outsize role in access to college. Because some selective universities use completion of calculus as a โgold standardโ for determining whom to admitโwithout regard to the connection of calculus to studentsโ intended majorsโcollege admissions also plays a major role in Kโ12 math education policies. In this session, Just Equations Executive Director Pamela Burdman examines the disconnect between that role and new developments in math education. The ultimate focus is on policies that maximize meaningful Kโ12 math learning and prepare students for future success, while also minimizing gatekeeping.
Session Presenter: Pamela Burdman, Just Equations
