Health & Medicine on Khan Academy: No organ quite symbolizes love like the heart. One reason may be that your heart helps you live, by moving ~5 liters (1.3 gallons) of blood through almost 100,000 kilometers (62,000 miles) of blood vessels every single minute! It has to do this all day, everyday, without ever taking a vacation! Now that is true love. Learn about how the heart works, how blood flows through the heart, where the blood goes after it leaves the heart, and what your heart is doing when it makes the sound “Lub Dub.”
About Khan Academy: Khan Academy is a nonprofit with a mission to provide a free, world-class education for anyone, anywhere. We believe learners of all ages should have unlimited access to free educational content they can master at their own pace. We use intelligent software, deep data analytics and intuitive user interfaces to help students and teachers around the world. Our resources cover preschool through early college education, including math, biology, chemistry, physics, economics, finance, history, grammar and more. We offer free personalized SAT test prep in partnership with the test developer, the College Board. Khan Academy has been translated into dozens of languages, and 100 million people use our platform worldwide every year. Algebra II on Khan Academy: Your studies in algebra 1 have built a solid foundation from which you can explore linear equations, inequalities, and functions. In algebra 2 we build upon that foundation and not only extend our knowledge of algebra 1, but slowly become capable of tackling the BIG questions of the universe. We'll again touch on systems of equations, inequalities, and functions...but we'll also address exponential and logarithmic functions, logarithms, imaginary and complex numbers, conic sections, and matrices. Don't let these big words intimidate you. We're on this journey with you!
About Khan Academy: Khan Academy offers practice exercises, instructional videos, and a personalized learning dashboard that empower learners to study at their own pace in and outside of the classroom. We tackle math, science, computer programming, history, art history, economics, and more. Our math missions guide learners from kindergarten to calculus using state-of-the-art, adaptive technology that identifies strengths and learning gaps. We've also partnered with institutions like NASA, The Museum of Modern Art, The California Academy of Sciences, and MIT to offer specialized content.

Precalculus on Khan Academy: You may think that precalculus is simply the course you take before calculus. You would be right, of course, but that definition doesn't mean anything unless you have some knowledge of what calculus is. Let's keep it simple, shall we? Calculus is a conceptual framework which provides systematic techniques for solving problems. These problems are appropriately applicable to analytic geometry and algebra. Therefore....precalculus gives you the background for the mathematical concepts, problems, issues and techniques that appear in calculus, including trigonometry, functions, complex numbers, vectors, matrices, and others. There you have it ladies and gentlemen....an introduction to precalculus!

Trigonometry on Khan Academy: Big, fancy word, right? Don't be fooled. Looking at the prefix, tri-, you could probably assume that trigonometry ("trig" as it's sometimes called) has something to do with triangles. You would be right! Trig is the study of the properties of triangles. Why is it important? It's used in measuring precise distances, particularly in industries like satellite systems and sciences like astronomy. It's not only space, however. Trig is present in architecture and music, too. Now you may wonder...how is knowing the measurement and properties of triangles relevant to music?? THAT is a great question. Maybe you'll learn the answer from us in these tutorials!

The British Government kept the “Operation Unthinkable” document a secret, even from their closest allies, the Americans. After the war, Churchill made no reference to it, not even in his memoirs. It was declassified only a half a century after, in 1998. It was only then that the world got to know how close they had been to World War III.

Gunslingers - The Wild West -4 Mini stories.
From 1850 to 1890 the Old west had little in the way of government law or police.
Men would carry guns on them to protect themselves: some were outlaws, and some were the lawmen who tried to stop them.
Good aim and speed with a gun and a willingness to pull the trigger would make them famous.
Today we call them gunfighters or gunslingers, but back then they were called gunmen or shootists.

This physics video tutorial explains the relationship between electric flux and gauss's law. It shows you how to calculate the electric flux through a surface such as a disk or a square and how to calculate it using a sphere and a cube. Electric flux is the product between the perpendicular component of the electric field relative to the surface and the area of that surface. This video discusses the difference between the angles phi and theta and the terms inward electric flux vs outward electric flux. This video contains plenty of examples and practice problems.

Our Sun, the most important star in our sky. All living things on the Earth depend on the sun to warm the earth, provide light during the day, and for changing seasons and differing climates around the world. The Earth's rotation, day and night as well as seasons can be an abstract idea for children, but Kids Academy has created this video to bring these concepts to life for all learners. Children will gain a better understanding of how our Sun and Earth function together and the effects it has on our everyday life as well as long term effects such as seasons.
The earth's rotation (how it spins), revolution around the sun, and the connection to day/night and seasons are animated and explained in this engaging video. Connections are made between the Earth’s rotation around the Sun and day and night. The tilt of the Earth on its axis affects the angle that its light hits Earth and therefore warms the earth. This means that the tilt of the earth affects climate in different parts of the world. For example, the sun's light does not ever directly hit the North and South Pole, so these habitats are very cold because they never get enough of the Sun’s energy to warm them up. On the other hand, the equator is right in the middle of the Earth, so it gets a lot of our Sun's light, and it is always hot there. The Sun impacts our daily lives in many different ways from when we get up and go to sleep, to the holidays we celebrate and activities we partake in.

Paleozoic EraPaleozoic era was 544 to 245 million years ago
Paleozoic means “ ancient life” and is part of the phanerozoic eon along with the cenozoic, and mesozoic eras
Let’s hit some highlights of this era
Early during the Paleozoic era trilobites, echinoderms, and other marine invertebrates such as coral dominated the oceans.
Jawless fish also lived during this era
Evently sharks and other bony fish appear
However, as time passed life did not remain in the sea.
Land plants began to appear such as ferns and some trees later in this era
Life was also crawling out of the ocean
The first vertebrates appeared Among these vertebrates was a tetrapod which was a vertebrate that could live on land
Other vertebrates would appear including snakes, crocodiles,
Reptiles and insects scatter throughout the world and amphibians appear
The supercontinent Rodinia brook apart early in this era, but by the end of the era the supercontinent Pangea was formed.
Mitochondria are amazing and cool
They are found in plants... animals,....fungi,.....protists, and any other eukaryotic cell
They can quickly change shape and move around the cell when needed.
When the cell needs more energy, the mitochondria can reproduce by growing larger and then dividing. For example, say you want to get in shape. As you exercise more the mitochondria in your muscles will increase in number and navigate to the edges of the cell, which allows these muscle cells to have more energy.
If the cell needs less energy, some mitochondria will die or become inactive.
The mitochondria are the powerhouse of the cell because of their ATP production. The function of the mitochondria is to boost your energy by performing cellular respiration.
