North Korea is one of the most isolated and closed off countries in the world. Its official name is the Democratic People's Republic of Korea. The country is roughly the size of the U.S. state of Pennsylvania. And its total population is estimated to be around 25 million people. In All about North Korea for Kids, you will learn a lot more about this country, even though it's not easy to visit.
The government in North Korea is communist, meaning that it controls the lives of most of its citizens, even down to people's haircut! There are only 28 approved haircuts, so every citizen must choose from that list which hair style they want. Citizens can also be arrested for watching certain movies or practicing certain religions. They are also not allowed to talk about ideas that go against the government.
The government also controls the media and news. Propaganda, or news that makes the country look good, is common in the country, and there is no internet access. In fact, most North Koreans have never even seen a computer. Additionally, few people are allowed to leave the country, and only a few people are allowed to visit. Those individuals can only see approved parts of North Korea and are watched closely.
When Japan lost the war in World War II, the Soviets gained control of northern half of the Korean peninsula, so North Korea became a communist country. The Americans controlled the southern half, so South Korea became a democratic country. When the Soviets left in 1948, many conflicts between the two Korean countries arose. After a resulting Korean war, the same family has maintained control of North Korea and kept it isolated from the world.

Who is George Washington? What did George Washington do? Did he cut down a cherry tree? In this video we learn all about George Washington for kids. George Washington was the very first president of the United States and has a profound impact on history not only in the United States but in the whole world! In this short but fun introduction video you and your students will learn all about him and the impact he had on the world.
George Washington was the first President of the United States. He was
born February 22, 1732 in Virginia. At age 16 he had a job as a surveyor, which means he measured the size
of new land turning the information into maps. He later became a landowner in Mount Vernon, Virginia and was
elected to the Virginia legislature.
Due to problems with the British wanting to control the colonies,
Washington led the Continental Army in a victory over the British during
a war called the American Revolution.
Several years later, after the war, Washington was elected as President
in 1789 until 1797. He helped create and guide the government based
on the words of the Constitution, and he took on many roles that are still
part of the presidency today.

In All about the UK for Kids, you will learn about the four countries that make up the United Kingdom. When people mention the UK, they are not talking about a country but about the countries that are part of it! Those four countries are England, Wales, Scotland, and Northern Ireland. And no, Northern Ireland is not the same as Ireland. Those are two separate countries, and Ireland is not part of the UK.
The official name of this collection of countries is the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland. That's because Great Britain constitutes England, Scotland, and Wales.
The largest country by both area and population is England. Believe it or not, even though Northern Ireland is an entire country, fewer people live there than in London, England! London is home to nearly 9 million people, while Northern Ireland in its entirely is home to about 1.8 million people.
There are some really interesting places to visit throughout the UK. One of them is Loch Ness in Scotland. The word "loch" means lake, so the loch ness monster is the monster of Lake Ness. Another fascinating place is the tower of Big Ben. What you may not know is that the actual name of Big Ben is Great Bell. And Big Ben doesn't refer to the tower but to the bell itself. Let's see what else you can learn!

What are you waiting for? Eclipses
Hello friends. In this educational video for kids we are going to learn about eclipses. There are two types of eclipses, a solar eclipse and a lunar eclipse, but first of all, do you know what an eclipse is?
An eclipse occurs when an astronomical object is temporarily obscured. Sometimes the Earth is placed between the sun and the moon and other times the moon is situated between the Earth and the sun. These are eclipsesโฆ but letโs investigate it better.
The lunar eclipse is when the Earth is situated between the moon and the sun making the Earth block out the sunโs rays which would be shining on the moon, creating a shadow and darkening it. This phenomenon allows us to see the moon in a reddish colorโฆalmost as if it were bleeding.
Lunar eclipses are quite frequent and can be seen from any part of the world at night time. They last various hours and can be different types, though the most frequent ones are the partial lunar eclipse and the total lunar eclipse.
When there is an eclipse and it looks as if someone has taken a bite out of the moon, it is a partial eclipse, and when there is an eclipse and one can see the whole moon, it is a total eclipse. Easy donโt you think?
By the way, to observe a lunar eclipse one doesnโt need anything special, a normal telescope or binoculars would do.
Solar eclipses only occur when there is a new moon, and is seen when the moon is in between the Earth and the sun. The moon hides all the suns light or at least part of it.
Solar eclipses can be of different types: total, partial or annular.
A total solar eclipse is when the moon hides all of the suns light and the sunโs face disappears behind the moon. In the middle of the day, it would seem as if night has fallen. The sky darkens and stars appear. Many animals, think itโs night time and go to sleep, and nocturnal animals such as this owl, begin their day, actually their night, not understanding that in a short time the sun will reappear.
Partial solar eclipses occur when the moon comes between the Earth and the sun, but not completely, leaving part of the sun visible. The day becomes slightly darker and the sun resembles a cookie with a chunk missing.
An annular solar eclipse occurs when the moon hides only the middle part of the sun. It is seen as a black circle surrounding a bright ring. It looks like a ring, doesnโt it?
By the way and this is really important, it is very dangerous to observe solar eclipses without special eye protection. Please remember this as it is extremely harmful.
Well now we know a little bit more about eclipsesโฆdonโt you think it is fascinating learning new things?
Goodbye friends, we hope you enjoyed this educational video for children about eclipses. Donโt forget to subscribe to Happy Learning TV, so you donโt miss any of our videos.
