ComAI Lecture with Prof. Dr. Jeremy Knox (U of Oxford):
ComAI Lecture with Prof. Dr. Jeremy Knox (U of Oxford): Teacherflix 0 Views • 11 hours ago

Abstract
In a similar way to previous education technologies, recent developments in artificial intelligence (AI) are typically discussed in terms of their ability to enhance learning or make the educational process more efficient. While this dominant discourse is sometimes countered with concerns about the potential harm to ‘humanistic’ notions of learning, general debates are often stymied by an opposition between ‘benefits and drawbacks’. Discussion of the use of Large Language Models (LLMs) in education, for example, often seems to oscillate between predictions of grand transformations in knowledge production and concerns over cheating in assessments.
This talk will suggest that, rather than a habitual focus on the potential enhancement or impairment of learning, a richer understanding of the impact of AI on education might be developed through an analysis of power. This will focus on the ways AI systems increasingly produce, collect, and organise data, drawing on Isin and Ruppert’s (2020) discussion of four overlapping forms of modern power – sovereign, disciplinary, regulatory, and sensory. It is in this way that AI might be understood, not as an instrument of power, or a ‘tool’ through which better or worse educational outcomes can be determined, but rather as a technology through which power produces effects. The use of AI in education will be suggested to both consolidate historical forms of governance through education, as well as enact new assemblages of power in an era of datafication. Resistance to such power will be suggested to come from a return to educational notions of subversion and opacity.

AI Educational Evolution | Past, Present, Future | Learning & Teaching | Generative AI | Video E Teacherflix 0 Views • 11 hours ago

Education has constantly been evolving, from simple tools like the abacus to the valuable scrolls in ancient schools. How have these changes shaped the way we learn? The invention of the printing press drastically changed our access to knowledge, making us wonder: How would we learn without physical books to read? And moving into the digital age, with online platforms like Khan Academy, could we have imagined the global reach of education without the internet?

Now, as we move further into the 21st century, AI is set to change education once again. Imagine a history lesson powered by AI, or a math lesson that solves problems in real time, adjusting to each learner's pace! But these exciting advances bring up important questions. If AI can predict and meet student needs, is this a new form of active teaching? And, can AI, even with its precision, replace the human touch and connection in our classrooms? When AI speeds up language learning, should we reconsider traditional teaching methods?

While AI offers wide and transformative possibilities, we must ask ourselves: Can technology genuinely encompass the full experience of education? Can machines reflect human emotion and shared experiences? In our pursuit of efficiency, do we risk losing the depth of human experience? Isn't education more than just gaining information?

Isn't education more than just gaining information? Isn't it also about transformation and growth? Perhaps AI can enhance that. But as we embrace this digital evolution, we must consider: How do we balance technological advancement with preserving the intrinsic human elements that have always been the foundation of meaningful education?

2026 Predictions: AI, Education, Trust, and the Future of Society
2026 Predictions: AI, Education, Trust, and the Future of Society Teacherflix 0 Views • 11 hours ago

What will actually shape society by 2026 and which signals are already visible right now?

In this video, generational futurist Ryan Vet breaks down how 2026 will arrive faster than we expect, why the pace of change is no longer linear but compounding, and why 2026 won’t be remembered as a year of answers, but as a year of signals.

Rather than offering hype-driven futurist predictions, Ryan explores the deeper forces already reshaping society beneath the surface. From the rapid acceleration of artificial intelligence to shifting models of education, eroding trust, and widening cultural divides, this conversation looks at what’s quietly changing now—and why it matters before 2026 arrives.

In this video, you’ll learn:
- AI in 2026: why we’ve already crossed the AI tipping point and how AI is reshaping thinking, learning, and problem-solving
- Why the real risk of AI isn’t job loss—but cognitive offloading and dependency
- How tools like GPS, voice assistants, and AI tutors quietly reduce mental effort
- Why friction is where learning actually happens
- Education in 2026: why credentials are losing influence and proof is replacing prestige
- Why schools and parents are restricting screens while AI adoption accelerates at the same time
- How trust is eroding across generations and why credibility is becoming provisional
- Why cultural polarization now extends beyond politics into workplaces, brands, and leadership
- What the arrival of Gen Beta signals about early formation in a world where AI is an assumed layer of reality

This video asks the harder questions leaders, parents, and educators need to consider now:
- What happens when assistance quietly becomes erosion?
- When does convenience weaken capability?
- How do you lead, teach, and parent intentionally in a world moving faster than reflection?

The future isn’t something that happens to us.
It’s something we’re actively shaping, whether we’re paying attention or not.
