Today we start a three episode arc on the rise of a global telecommunications network that changed the world forever. We’re going to begin with computer networks, and how they grew from small groups of connected computers on LAN networks to eventually larger worldwide networks like the ARPANET and even the Internet we know today. We'll also discuss how many technologies like Ethernet, MAC addresses, IP Addresses, packet switching, network switches, and TCP/IP were implemented to new problems as our computers became ever-increasingly connected. Next week we’ll talk about the Internet, and the week after the World Wide Web!

Finding Tens At The ZOO | Math For 1st Grade
It can be hard for a child to grasp the concept of counting mainly because he is new to it and he doesn’t know much. In simpler words, if your child is having trouble at finding 10s then don’t worry and know that this is something that almost every child finds hard to understand. At the end of the day, you can’t just overlook this issue, right? You have to make sure to come up with a solution that can help your little one on how to learn math.

Maths is a complicated subject and most students find it boring which is why your first focus should be to make it interesting. Yes, you read that right! You need to find solutions that can help your child focus on this subject and that’s exactly why we are here at the moment. The one solution that will work in any case is Youtube videos and online lectures on math. These people are professionals and they know how to use audios and visuals to grab the attention of the children. All you need to do is to invest your time and that’s all.

Staying consistent with your efforts is necessary because at first, it will be a little difficult for your kid to understand what’s happening but with a little patience and repeated efforts, he will finally be able to understand and respond to you the way you want to.

If not Youtube videos, you can simply opt for games and books etc that can help your child. Games are a better idea and especially when it comes to learning math for kids, this technique genuinely works! Just give it a try and we assure you that you will see the results on your own.

Despite all the hardship of being a Black person in Colonial America, some Black people were able to defy the harsh conditions and create art. Today we're learning about a teenager who attained literacy and wrote poems that reached a large slice of the population and helped changed the ways that white Colonists thought about Black people.

The Littlest Viking
by Alexandra Penfold
Illustrated by Isabel Roxas
Read by Let’s Read Stories

Click here to purchase The Littlest Viking: https://www.amazon.com/Littles....t-Viking-Alexandra-P

A hilarious story about what happens to the littlest and loudest Viking when an even littler and louder Viking arrives, perfect for fans of The Princess and the Pony and I Don't Want to Be a Frog.

Sven might be the littlest Viking, but he has no trouble making himself known. He has the loudest warrior cry and the fiercest set of teeth. He loves to pillage and plunder. But there's a new kid in town--a warrior princess, who is smaller than Sven and even louder. What's a little Viking to do?

"Penfold folds in fun ancient analogues to tried-and-true methods of appeasing cranky little ones, and Roxas's liberal use of a color perhaps best described as neon snot brings a punk edge to her scenes of Viking family life. Irreverent yet tender."--Publishers Weekly, Starred review

"A warm tale of family togetherness."--Kirkus

"A spirited tale about stopping a tantrum with a story, perfect for storytime or one-on-one sharing."--SLJ

Simple Machines for Kids teaches all about the main 6 simple machines in a fun and interactive way. We will learn about the different simple machines, which are; Incline Plane, Lever, Wedge, Screw, Wheel and Axle, and the Pulley. Almost any machine is created with one of these elements.

The inclined plane can be found in many places. It is triangular shaped with a smooth and even surface and helps move objects to higher or lower places.

The lever is a beam with a ridge that freely rotates or moves on a pivot. It helps you move heavy objects with ease.

The wedge is often attached to a handle. Used for cutting, splitting, tightening, to hold back or together, or for scraping.

Screws are cylinders with a solid top at one end, and a pointed
tip at the other end. Used to hold things together as they pull or push the object.

The large disc is the wheel and the small cylinder is the axle. The wheel is one of the greatest inventions in human history, but would not work without the axle.

A wheel with a groove in it, and a rope in the groove is called a pulley. A pulley lifts or lowers objects of different weights with relative ease.

In 1941 the US Military began looking for an alternative for the Thompson submachine guns.

In December of 1942 they adopted a new submachine gun, the M3.

Built from an all steel construction using mainly stamped parts, it fired from an open bolt and had simple controls.
