What Color is Yellow? | Learning Colors for Toddlers, Preschool and Kindergarten | Kids Academy

If you think it’s high time to teach your child about different colors then make sure to start with the basics ones that are blue, black, green, yellow, white. Yes, you read that right, you see, your child’s brain is too small at the moment and he can memorize limited things so don’t try to stuff his brain and start slow!

Today in this article we are going to talk about the yellow color and how you can tell your kid about this color. You see, you can’t just tell your little one about colors via text, in fact, you need to show them again and again what yellow color looks like and how is it different from the other colors. Now, in this case, you can do so much to teach your little one that you have no idea.

For starters, colors are all about visuals so make your child watch some good Youtube videos about the color yellow and we assure you that this technique will really be effective for them. These videos can do wonders to your child’s brain and they surely work so don’t forget to try this technique.

Other than this, there’s so much more you can do to tell your child about the yellow color. For example, you can play different games in which colors will be involved and you can then keep telling your child about the color yellow. This way, this information will fit his brain forever and he will know the color easily.

Try different fruits and vegetables too, to tell your little one how yellow looks like. To make it more fun, you can even start eating mangoes with your child or have a mango party for some better understanding.

All students that learn to read begin with the same basic fundamental skills. Students learn to identify upper and lowercase letters, learn letter sounds, and how the letter arrangement or letter order forms words. Students then progress to learning print awareness skills such as to begin reading at the top of a page, and read to the bottom. Knowing to read words from left to right is print awareness too.

Kids Academy has a series of videos that teach these basic skills. Beginning with the most basic of concepts, the first video teaches children that every word that is heard can be written down. Children learning how to read for kindergarten level, see easy three-letter words demonstrating this premise. The video shows how the letters D-O-G make the word DOG. The learner hears the name of each letter and then the word. Students viewing the video can read along! Further, students learn the names of each uppercase letter of the alphabet in a fun video that writes each letter, and then a fun animation with a character or object with that letter sound moves across the screen.

With other videos in this series, students progressing from Kindergarten to learning how to read for Grade 1, view letters that make a word. The letters given in the example are not in the correct order and must be unscrambled to make the correct word. Students practice and learn to read the one syllable words given in the examples. Students that are beginning to learn to read with phonics benefit from this instruction using one syllable CVC (consonant-vowel-consonant) words.

In more videos, students learn that words in a sentence have a space between them. Students clearly see that without these spaces, the words are difficult to read. The videos instructs learners to begin reading from the top of a page and then from left to right.

Teachers in the school as well as the home classroom that need resources on learning to read for kids find these videos are a great addition to daily instruction. Students learn letter identification, read one syllable words, and print awareness concepts.

The English language is very interesting, if you look at the words closely you will see some repetitive combination of alphabets ending the words. These letters that end a word are called ‘suffixes. These suffixes change the meaning of words and can create new words. In this episode, we talk about 6 suffixes:
-er
-ness
-ful
-less
-ly
-able
-fulI

So, let's see what these suffixes can do.
-er
When we add -er to a word it makes a word that means a person who does something. For example:
• Painter
• Singer
• Player

- ness
When we add -ness to a word it means ‘the act of’. Which means that something is being done with some kind of quality. For example:
• Greatness
• Kindness
• Happiness

When we add the suffix -ful to a word it changes its meaning to ‘full of’. For example:
• Colorful
• Grateful

-less
When we add -less to a word it means ‘without’, which means that something is without the word that’s in the start of this word. For example:
• Homeless
• Helpless

-ly
The suffix -ly can be used to answer two questions, how often and how. For example:
1. How did she act? Answer: Badly
2. How often does she dance? Answer: Weekly

-able
-able simply means ‘can’. That something can be done. For example:
• Respectable
• Comfortable

So now you know the suffixes. Find words in a storybook ending with these suffixes, just as a practice exercise. These are very important to learn about good English grammar for children.

Learn To Count Numbers 1 to 5 | Kids Academy
Install now Kids Academy Talented & Gifted: https://smart.link/5d9b5460c7805

Kid’s Academy’s “Learn To Count Numbers 1-5” is an engaging count number for kids video that encourages children to count in a playful and fun way. Children love a farmyard scene and are familiar with farm animals. The video opens with Chloe, the mama chicken, asking the viewer to help her find her lost chicks. The chicks are found one at a time behind a bush, in the grass, behind a stone, and in the flowers.

As each chick comes out of hiding the numbers 1-5 appear and the children learn to count numbers in sequence each time a hidden chick is found.
Parents and teachers of preschoolers and kindergarten students can use this video to help students master number identification.

Children will associate a given number that is repeated in the video and match that number they hear in video with the numeral. After watching the video, children and students can learn counting numbers one through five. But in addition to how to count numbers, the video demonstrates what numbers mean. Children also learn that as each chick is found the quantity of chicks is increasing. This will allow children and students to understand early addition concepts.

Number identification and rote counting are essential foundational early math skills. When young children learn how to count numbers sequentially, they learn that the last number that is counted is the s the quantity of a given set of objects. But counting is more than calculating a given quantity, the child also learns to match an object or objects with a number one at a time. This is a one-to-one correspondence.

As a child’s number of vocabulary grows, then the child also becomes more confident in communication and expression. Children are naturally curious. Learning how to count numbers and associate a number with a quantity will better help the child understand the world around them as well as encourage more mathematical exploration.

Towns and Cities - Learn the Difference | Social Studies for Preschool & Kindergarten | Kids Academy

Let’s learn about the difference between towns and cities. It is a very basic concept that needs to be given to kids and the kids must understand the concept very clearly otherwise they will just remain confused for a very long time in their life about the difference between town and city.

So, to avoid this let’s make a simple tutorial to help you make this learning easier for the kid.

Town

A town is a place where people live. It is smaller than a city. There are not a lot of people in town and the buildings are relatively less and smaller. It is not as busy as a city and there is lesser traffic in a town. In a town, you will find small houses surrounded by grassy fields or farms giving a very peaceful look.

Things that you might see around a town include farms, cottages, less traffic on narrow roads. Towns are located outside the city area where there is a lesser population and the houses are made beautifully with greenery around them.

City

A city is bigger and a busier area. People live in small apartments buildings and very few people live in houses. It has very high traffic and you will hardly see any farms around. The population of a city is higher than in a town. Many people travel from nearby towns to cities for work.

Cities remain busy all day and all night, for example, New York is called the city that never sleeps as it is always busy either it is day or night. You might not find a city as peaceful as a town.
So, which would you prefer living in and why?

Learn to Read | Read Words In Order | Reading for Kids | Kids Academy

Reading forms a very important part of the child’s initial academics. It is also a very difficult lesson for kids and mostly it is seen that kids struggle with it. However, if it is made easy and everything is explained to the kid in an easy way this can also become a very easy and a very interesting lesson.

It is important for teachers and parents to know that each kid is different, and each kid takes a different amount of time to grasp a concept. Therefore, putting pressure on the kid will not help him/her to get any better.
Now how can you help the kid to read fluently? There are some simple tips and tricks that you can follow to make reading for preschool and kindergarten kids easy.

1. Practice makes a man perfect
Read with your kid as much as you can. Be patient and don’t expect the child to start reading just after a few readings. With more and more practice the kid will slowly start understanding the sounds and alphabets and how they are working together. Start with small words.

2. Don’t burden the child
It is important the kid does not feel too much pressurized. If you burden the kid with a new difficult word every day it would become very difficult for him/her to cope up with it. So, take things slowly let the kid get familiarized with some words and then move forward.

3. Read what the kid likes
It’s better than you read a storybook that the kid likes, it would create more interest in the child and he would be more curious to read and understand what his/her favorite characters are saying. It would enhance the learning process.

4. Encourage participation
Encourage the kid to participate in the process and read with you. Ask questions while reading for example if you are reading a story with a dog in it, every once in a while, ask ‘so where is the dog?’. This will keep the child attentive and also, they will be better able to identify individual words.

So, these are some of the best ways in which you can learn to read for kids

Silent Letters - Phonics for Kids | Reading & Pronunciation | Kids Academy

Install now Kids Academy Talented & Gifted: https://smart.link/5d9b5460c7805
Silent letters to are the letters that appear in a word but are not pronounced. This seems a bit confusing for kids when they first learn silent letters but with a bit of practice and understanding, the concept would be easy to grasp.

Some letters are a part of a word, but they do not add to the sound of it. They are silent. These silent letters make up for different pronunciation of a word. However, silent words also follow a pattern. For example:

Consider the words:

• Ghost
• Honest
• Hour

In all these three words, ‘H’ remains silent, but did you see the pattern? Yes, ‘h’ before ‘o’ is silent. Similarly, in the words:

• Knot
• Knife
• Knee

The letter ‘k’ is silent. The pattern tells us that ‘k’ before ‘n’ is silent. Silent letter not only remain silent they can also change the pronunciation of a syllable, for example in words:

• Fin
• Fine

‘e’ is not pronounced in ‘fine’ but still, it changes the pronunciation of the whole world. So silent letters are not that silent, they have an effect on the pronunciation of words.
Now you know how to learn silent letters, practice with some more words.

Educational video for kids to learn social skills to be a good citizen in a fun and easy way! Apart from all the academic learning, it is very important that your child grows up with some good morals too. Being a good citizen is one of them. Your kid must know what kind of gestures and what acts he must do in order to be a good citizen. And it is the parent’s responsibility to explain and demonstrate it to their kids what being a good citizen means. To give you a head start let me explain something to you.
A good citizen is a person who is kind to the people around them.

Being a good citizen also means that you keep your environment neat and clean. All the trash must be thrown into the dustbin. Being naive to your neighbors also makes you a good citizen.
You can prepare some worksheets with different scenarios printed on it. Ask the child to encircle the situations in which the kid is being a good citizen. This would, of course, include a small girl being polite to the elderly. You can also put a picture of some kid drawing on a wall, this would go under the category of the bad citizen which the child must be able to distinguish.
In the same way, you can use some other situations to demonstrate the concept of a good citizen.

But remember the kids learn what they see. If they see you throwing your trash on the road or being impolite to the elderly, they would do the same. So, make sure you practice good behavior yourself so that your kid becomes a good person automatically.

What makes a sound? | Sound Experiments for Kids | Learning Video for Kindergarten and 1st Grade | Kids Academy

Children think a lot. Mostly when they are young and peeking into everything. The question which most of the kids usually ask is; what makes a sound? To make their concept clear it is important to tell what sound actually is. Well, the sound is the form of energy which is produced with the interaction of two objects.

There are numerous different sources which can produce sound. For example, whenever you start a car, the engine makes noises. This sound is produced as a result of energy supplied. Another thing which the kids need to know is that the light travels faster than sound. For example, whenever the lightning is struck you see the lighting prior to hearing its sound.

Everything around you tends to produce sound. Whether it is the fridge, car, tube light or fan, everything which requires energy for its operation makes a sound. To learn more about sound and its facts stay connected.

Learn How to Read | How to Teach Your Child to Read
Teaching a kid to read can be a challenge sometimes. It is mostly because parents take a lot more pressure on the reading of the kids. Because the kids will eventually learn to speak and recognize the colors and other things around them, but reading is a major milestone.

While some kids learn to read very quickly, some kids might take some time to adapt to the new thing that they are learning. It is very important that the kid is given enough time and attention to grasp to the new ideas. Putting a lot of pressure on them will only make them dislike this whole thing and they might not even put that much effort. It is very important that the parents and the teachers understand the nature of each individual child because every child is different and needs a different kind of attention.
With that being said, the next step is how to teach your child to read. It is very important that this new learning starts at home. Because is the child’s first school and the parents their first teachers. So, set a good example.
Now let’s talk about the best steps that you can take to teach the kid to read.

1. Make them interested in the books
For children, it is very important that the anything that they are doing is interesting and fun for them because if it’s not they won’t do it and if you pressurize them to do it, they won’t learn it that good. So, pick out something fun for them. Look for some interesting and colorful books. Something with cartoons or any other thing that your child is interested in. if the child finds the book interesting, he/she will be even more interested when you read it to them. Gradually they will start to repeat after you and slowly they will start pronouncing the words.

2. Set a good example
The kids do what their parents do, and there is no doubt in that. Kids don’t do what you tell them to do, they do what they see you doing. So, set a good example for them. If they see their parents reading books, they will eventually be fascinated by it and would want to learn what it is and how it is read. Their curiosity will lead them to learn. So, if you do not have a habit of reading, you might as well adopt it now or at least fake it until your kid learns to read.

3. Read to them
The child will learn when he hears. Just pick out a good storybook and read it to the kid while he flips the pages over. The colors and the pictures on the book will help in the imagination of the kid and while you pronounce the words they will start to recognize the pictures associated with those words. This will be a big step towards the reading. It’s up to you how many books you read to the kid but at least 2 or 3 books a day will help faster learning. Maybe one in the morning, one in the afternoon and one as a bedtime story.

4. Interact with the kid while reading
It is very important that the kid learns to associate the words that he is listening with what is written on the book in front of him, so for this, you will need to interact with the child while you read. Ask questions while you read, like if there is a dog on the page, ask ‘do you see the dog?’ or anything like that. This will help the child learn much faster because it will increase the interest of the kid and will encourage him to learn more and answer the questions. It is very important that the child decides what he is hearing.

5. Teach the alphabets
The alphabets are the basis of this leaning. For a child to start reading it is very important that he recognizes the letters written on the page only then he will be able to combine them as a word. Teaching the alphabets will be made much easier if you use videos to make the kid learn alphabets. Videos are a very effective way to make the leaning faster and much more efficient. The child will see the alphabets appearing on the screen while he hears their sound and how they are pronounced. This will help the child to learn the sounds related to alphabets too which will make the pronunciation much easier for them. So, alphabets will be your first step to reading.

6. Keep the books accessible to the child
Kids work on mood and it would be very bad if your child is in a mood of reading but has no books around.

Force and Motion for Kids | Ramps | Kids Academy

When you are building the basics of science in your kid’s mind, you must be very clear and very easy to understand. Science basics start from force and motion. Both the two words are interconnected to each other. We will keep things simple and easy for kids.

Motion is when something changes its position and moves from one place to another. However, this motion is not caused by itself, some external energy is required for motion. This energy is called force. Force can be either push or pull. Push is when we move the object away from ourselves and pull is when we move the object towards us.
An object will not move or change its position unless or until an external force is applied to it.

So, this was all the theory. To further clear out the concept do some simple yet fun activities at home or school, to make this concept more interesting for kids because there are high chances that kids might find it boring and tiring.

Use some fun toys to explain the concept of pushing and pulling. This would make the kid more interested in the topic and then he would explore things on his own.

Pushing and Pulling | What is the difference? | Force and Energy for Kids

We have seen adults confused between push and pull for their whole lives. This happens when the concept from childhood are weak. So, if you don’t want your kid to pulling a door that clearly says PUSH, you must make the difference crystal clear to them.

Before that, we need to learn some other concepts too, which is about force and energy. Whenever an object is moving we say that it is in motion and to put an object in motion some force needs to be applied to it.

Force is the energy that enables the object to move. Now this force can be either push or pull.
The key difference between push and pull is that we when we apply force on an object to move it away from ourselves we say that we are pushing it. However, when we apply force to move the object towards us we say that now we are pulling the object.

The object will stay in its place unless or until an external force is applied to it which forces it to move and change its position.
After explaining the theory, you can use some real-life examples to further clear out the concept by pushing and pulling different things and asking the kid to identify the kind of force.
This concept can save your kid from banging into many doors trying to push it when it says pull. So, keep it crystal clear.

If you are focused on nurturing your kid’s habits and behavior from a young age, you should enroll them in community helpers for kids' classes. In schools, some teachers use themes to help the kids learn, and community helpers are one of those many themes. It requires teachers to use job & occupations for toddlers as examples to help them learn the fundamentals of community helpers.

But, what is a community helper? A community helper is a person who lives and works in a community. They serve us in various ways to keep us safe, and they improve society in many ways.

A number of community helpers include dentists, astronauts, nurses, mail carriers, babysitters, firefighters, doctors, volunteers, librarians, and much more. A teacher should discuss the job and responsibilities of these people to its students, and it can help them to learn a lot.

Long and Short Vowels for Kids: A E I O U | Kids Academy

Teaching children the very basics of the English language is quite imperative because this then helps them when they reach the stage when they have to make the sentences on their own.

In short, when it comes to vowels, the information is necessary and teachers and parents need to tell the children what vowels are and where they are used so that the child can speak properly and make sentences in the best possible way.

Now, if you as a parent don’t have much knowledge about vowels or if you no longer remember your lessons from your school then don’t worry because you can always refer to the internet for help.
Speaking of the internet, you can just simply go to Youtube and then jot down “English vowels” or “vowel sound song” there and then you will have all the results pop up on your screen right away. That is where you can learn about vowels and teach your children too.

As far as long and short vowels are concerned, well, the vowel that sounds like its name, that vowel is known as the long vowel because the sound of that vowel is longer. On the other hand, the shorter one comes with a short sound and this is the biggest difference between the two.

It’s better to use visuals and sounds properly to teach your child how vowels work so make sure to do that and within a short time, you will see the results on your own.

What is a Syllable? | Open and Closed Syllables | Kids Academy

There are total of 6 types of syllables out there and if you are about to start teaching your little one about syllables then we’d recommend you to start with the open syllables and the closed syllables.

It’s just that these are easier to understand and your kid will learn quite fast. Not only this, in fact, after learning these two types, your kid will be able to speak a hundred different words.

For starters, you need to tell your children what is a syllable. It basically is a unit of pronunciation that comes with a single vowel only. For more details, you can refer to the internet and watch videos on Youtube that tell everything you need to know about a syllable.

Open Syllables:
In an open syllable, nothing comes after the vowel and the word ends right at the vowel. For example, the word “he” is an open syllable as nothing is coming after the vowel “e”. Also, in this case, the vowel is long.

Closed Syllables:
In this case, there comes a consonant after the vowel. In a nutshell, when we talk about a closed syllable, know that the vowel is closed with a consonant in the end. For example, there’s the word “cap” and “men”. You can see that in both these words the vowel is closed with the consonant “p” and “n”.

We hope you now understand the difference between both types. So, teach your kids about these two types and then move towards the other ones so that they can have a better understanding of what syllables are.

The wiser thing to do would be to watch Youtube videos and teach your children about vowels and syllables etc from there because that way, they will pick things up quicker.
