In this episode of Can You Teach Us—the gameshow that puts teachers on the spot and in the spotlight—Matt gets quizzed on his science smarts on topics from photosynthesis to black holes. But this isn’t a simple multiple-choice kind of test. There are acting challenges, bonus points about Pluto, the former planet, and limited time on the clock!

Can You Teach Us takes K12 teachers out of their virtual classroom comfort zone and onto an in-person set for rapid-fire, knowledge-testing games in their subject area. Have you ever heard of the golden ratio? It’s an irrational number known as phi, and it got its name from being aesthetically pleasing to the eye. You see, this mathematical ratio can be found in nature, art, architecture, and the human body.

In geometry, the golden ratio is used to create a golden spiral, a pattern naturally occurring in sunflower seed heads, seashells, leaves, and even pinecones. The ratio can even be found in famous artwork like the Mona Lisa and architecture like the Great Pyramid of Giza. We’re not 100% sure the use was intentional, but it is pretty nice to look at.

K12 Robotics Competition finals. If you couldn’t attend the in-person event, now’s your
time to catch up on all the action!
These teams emerged as the top robotics masters in their grade bands after two qualifier
rounds. They’ve proven themselves to be true robotics masters, demonstrating innovation,
creativity, and problem-solving skills—not to mention great teamwork. Find out here who
