Geometry on Khan Academy: We are surrounded by space. And that space contains lots of things. And these things have shapes. In geometry we are concerned with the nature of these shapes, how we define them, and what they teach us about the world at large--from math to architecture to biology to astronomy (and everything in between). Learning geometry is about more than just taking your medicine ("It's good for you!"), it's at the core of everything that exists--including you. Having said all that, some of the specific topics we'll cover include angles, intersecting lines, right triangles, perimeter, area, volume, circles, triangles, quadrilaterals, analytic geometry, and geometric constructions. Wow. That's a lot. To summarize: it's difficult to imagine any area of math that is more widely used than geometry.

About Khan Academy: Khan Academy offers practice exercises, instructional videos, and a personalized learning dashboard that empower learners to study at their own pace in and outside of the classroom. We tackle math, science, computer programming, history, art history, economics, and more. Our math missions guide learners from kindergarten to calculus using state-of-the-art, adaptive technology that identifies strengths and learning gaps. We've also partnered with institutions like NASA, The Museum of Modern Art, The California Academy of Sciences, and MIT to offer specialized content.

For free. For everyone. Forever. #YouCanLearnAnything

________________________ ABOUT _________________________________________
Complete K12 essentials Youtube channel and Complete K12 Essentials.com was created to offer parents and teachers an online augmentation or alternative when public schools are not available. The need for standard curriculum that can be delivered via the internet became obvious during the pandemic of 2020. Teachers and school districts were left to create lesson plans and somehow connect with the students with very little time. The challenge was to give each child a method to connect with teachers and class mates to simulate a natural learning environment. Although we are still building our library of video lessons, you can use our videos to create lesson plans, review standardized material, introduce building blocks and drills, as well as assigning tests and quizzes on limited videos, such as vocabulary. We are building videos that will serve all students from kindergarten through the 12th grade. Recently launched on June 21st, 2020 our goal is to provide videos that will serve as a resource for those teaching or those looking to cover important standardized curriculum. We believe that access to a solid foundation of knowledge should be available to everyone who chooses to seek it. Many offerings online lean on animation to capture a child’s attention, which to a certain extent works, but they lose interest rapidly and the opportunities for learning are significantly reduced. This is especially true when the child has no obligation to retain the material or accountability to a teacher. Navigating through the material suitable for each grade level is a difficult task at best, so we have created the “SAFE LEARNING PLACE” logo and apply it to all of our videos to show you our dedication to providing good learning material that can be trusted across our whole channel. The curriculum will cover Math, Language Arts, Social Studies, Science, Technology, Music, Art, Health and Fitness, Foreign Languages, Life Skills, Career training, History and Law.

Mysterious New Lights Detected in the Northern Sky
Mysterious New Lights Detected in the Northern Sky Teacherflix 5 Views • 8 months ago

🌌 Recently, scientists have detected strange new lights in the northern sky — and they don’t fully understand what’s causing them. At first glance, they might look like auroras, but these lights behave differently. They flicker, stretch, and even appear in areas where auroras aren’t usually seen. Some researchers think they could be linked to unusual solar activity, while others suspect new atmospheric phenomena we’ve never recorded before.

There is this idea floating around that what doesn’t kill you, makes you stronger. That surviving a disease leaves you better off. And it seems to make sense because we have all experienced this. When you go through hardship, often you come out more resilient, more ready to face a difficult situation in the future. But it turns out that sometimes, what doesn’t kill you makes you weaker.
So, what happens when you get sick?

It sounds like such an incredible fact. “Our own cells are outnumbered by our microbes 10 to 1!” I don’t remember where I first heard it. But I read it in science papers and articles by journalists, so I believed it without question. I even made one of my first videos based on this fact. Problem is, this fact is not true. So how did it remain firmly planted in our common knowledge for almost four decades without any scientific scrutiny? And how can you prepare yourself to not be fooled by other scientific urban legends? I look at a few of the most famous incorrect factoids in science, and give a few suggestions for how to make our common knowledge more correct.

K12 Curriculum Learning Resources for Schools
K12 Curriculum Learning Resources for Schools Teacherflix 5 Views • 2 years ago

Most Schools and Teachers spare no effort to ensure that the children and students they work with and teach, have the best chance of success by selecting and using the best and most appropriate resources available to them.

Correctly subtitled video provides the ideal curriculum learning resource for all children and students of all ages because it provides the choice to learn by watching, listening to, or reading each specific topic or lesson.

In other words, it enables each student to learn using their preferred Learning Style.

It also enables each child or student to learn at their own individual speed which is essential to helping them achieve their greatest individual potential.

Research over the last 30 years has demonstrated the link between the use of subtitles or captions on video and improved reading and literacy skills. So when you use subtitled video as a curriculum learning resource, it enables each individual to improve their reading and literacy skills simultaneously as they study each curriculum topic.

PLEASE NOTE: Official statistics indicate that as many as 1 in every 7 students of school age lives with some type of Dyslexia - many of whom remain undiagnosed. The use of textbooks and printed materials limits the ability of the dyslexic student to absorb the information being provided for them to study and learn WHEREAS Visual Learning provides the easiest and most effective solution.

There’s been a lot of talk on YouTube lately about ocean plastic pollution and #TeamSeas. But there hasn’t been enough talk about the **ridiculously unthinkable scale of the ocean plastic pollution problem** or how it intersects with other environmental issues like climate change. And here’s a big spoiler alert: Nearly all environmental scientists agree that ocean plastic pollution isn’t a problem we can clean our way out of. So what CAN we do? That’s what this video is about.
