Learn to Play Chess | What is Stalemate? | Kids Academy
As you learn to play chess you should know that stalemate is another way of ending a game, apart from checkmate, it is a type of tie which means that the game will be the draw. No one wins. A stalemate happens when a player’s king is safe, and that player doesn’t have any moves to make.
It simply means that even if you can’t play any moves and your king is surrounded still the king is in such a position that it is safe from any attacks.
The opponent cannot attack your king and there is no way of capturing it. This brings the game to a draw condition. Neither of the players can make any move to win the game. This is called a stalemate, and it is one type of draw in chess. So that’s an easy way of learning how to play chess.

Learn to Play Chess - Discovered Attack | Kids Academy
The discovered check can help you win the game. It is one of the most intelligent moves in chess. This move will make your opponent come out of their comfort zone and move their king. This would block the check of your opponent, which means that your chances of doing checkmate increases and you can put the opponent’s king under threat. It is one of the most common played tactics in chess.
So, what happens in this kind of move is that when you move a piece, a piece is revealed behind it that is now attacking the king. This will force the opponent to move their king hence giving you a chance to checkmate. A discovered check is one of the most popular moves used in chess and very important to the lesson for chess for beginners. It can help you earn a lot of points and win the game.

Today you will learn about the amazing animals called penguins. Did you know that penguins are birds? Like all birds, penguins are warm-blooded, have beaks and feathers, and lay eggs. However, penguins cannot fly. Instead of wings, they have flippers, which makes them excellent swimmers.
There are many types of penguins, and they differ in size and by the black and white patterns on their heads. Some species of penguins are the Little Penguin, the Rockhopper Penguin, the Adelie Penguin, the African Penguin, the King Penguin, and the Emperor Penguin.
Penguins are hunters. They hunt in the ocean, and their main food is fish. They can also eat krill, squid, and other small ocean creatures. Penguins’ enemies at sea are larger predators – such as sharks, orcas, and seals.
Penguins live only in the southern hemisphere. Most of them live in Antarctica which is an icy continent at the South Pole. You can also see penguins on the coasts of Africa, Australia, and South America.
Penguins have a thick layer of fat and tightly packed feathers which makes it possible for them to live in very cold climates. When on the ground, they hop or waddle on their hind feet. Penguins can also lie on their stomachs and slide quickly on ice and snow. Usually, penguins live in huge colonies, up to several thousand animals in one place. This helps them protect themselves and their babies against predators and keep warm in low temperatures. Penguins form pairs to lay eggs and take care of the chicks. The mother penguin lays one or two eggs, and the two parents sit on the eggs in turns to keep them warm.
Penguins are very friendly and curious animals. They have no fear of people and eagerly approach them.

0:24 Desert Biome This tundra can be hot or cold but what it has in common is the small amount of rainfall this biome receives.
3:46 Tropical Rainforest This biome is the complete opposite of the desert because of the amount of rainfall this biome receives.It has a very large diversity of plants and animals.
7:01 Taiga The taiga is cold and contains coniferous trees.
9:42 Deciduous forest This biome contains trees that drop their leaves.
11:50 Temperate Grassland The grassland has lots of grass and very few trees.
14:06 Savanna The savanna is home to very large animals like an elephant and giraffe.
16:19 Tundra The tundra is cold and is found near the arctic circle.

Kingdom Monera-Bacteria-Archaebacteria
The kingdom monera consists entirely of single cell organisms. Members of the kingdom are found just about everywhere on earth. They are located in popular springs,cow's stomach, and nearly every surface on earth.
All members of the kingdom don't have a nucleus or membrane bound organelles. Accordingly, they are categorized as prokaryotes.
They have a cell wall, genetic material, cytoplasm, and ribosomes.
Bacteria get their energy in lots of different methods.
Some get strength from sunlight,others get strength from chemicals like CO2, while some break down organic and natural material
This kingdom is split into two groups.
Archaebacteria and bacteria
Archaebacteria is found in extreme environments.
For instance, some are in the tummy of a cow, hot springs, the dead sea, and swamps or marshes.
They have a different type of cell wall than bacteria and so are antibiotic resistant.
Bacteria are found just about everywhere.
They are very important to life on earth.
Although some cause disease, virtually all are extremely helpful to us.
They break down food inside our stomach, help the nitrogen cycle, and actually help make a few of our food like sauerkraut.
We could not survive without bacteria.
Bacteria could be classified by their shape.
Coccus includes a sphere shape
Spirillum have a good spiral shape
Bacillus have a good rod shape.
Most organisms of monera kingdom reproduce asexually in an activity called binary fission, however, many reproduce sexually in an activity called conjugation.

Learn how to calculate the area of a composite figure. A composite figure is made up of simple Geometric shapes. In order to find the area you decompose the geometric shapes and then add the area of each shape together for the area of the composite figure.
***** In the first example I make a mistake with the area of the triangle. 1/2 of 54 = 27 not 28.
So the answer should be 63 + 27 = 91 m squared
