Confusing grammar mistake in English - Using I or me
Confusing grammar mistake in English - Using I or me Teacherflix 8 مناظر • پہلے 2 سال

The most confusing mistake in English grammar -- Using I or me?

You think you are good at English?
No matter how proficient you are, I'm sure you continue to come across new words, grammar references or usages which, though appear technically right, are big time bloopers. And for those who are still getting a grip of the language, ha haha, what can I say, welcome to the club!

So, one of the most commonly made mistakes in English is the confusing confusion between using I or me?
How would it sound if someone were to say "Me love you" or "Me am ready". Or if your friend were to ask you "Are you following I?" or "Give it to I".
I'm sure your friend's going to instantly ask you "Who's Mr. I??"
Here are some rules that will help you choose between I and me:

Rule No 1)
'I' is nominative whereas 'me' is accusative.
The nominative case is used for the subject of the verb, i.e. the word which denotes who/what does what the verb says. The accusative case marks the object of the verb, i.e. the word which receives the action of the verb.
In the sentence 'He loves me', 'He' is nominative and 'me' is accusative.
Don't get it?

Ok, let's make it simple with Rule No 2)
'I' is used as a subject pronoun whereas 'me' is used as an object pronoun.
Hmmmmm??
We know that both 'I' and 'me' are pronouns.
The subject pronoun is used to refer to the one that does things. Like, in the sentence "He saw me", he is the subject pronoun.
The object pronoun is used to refer to the one who has the thing done to him. Now, in the same sentence, "He saw me", me is the object pronoun.
So when you have to ask someone to keep a secret, you say, "This is between you and me", 'you and me' is the object of the preposition 'between'.

Rule No 3)
If you are still getting confused between I or me, here's a cheat rule.
Remove the unnecessary parts in the sentence for correct phrasing.
For example, here's a test sentence: Is it "You and I should have dinner sometime" or "You and me should have dinner sometime". Confused?
Now, use the cheat-rule and remove a part of this sentence "You and" as is temporarily not required. Now read the sentence.
"I should have dinner sometime"

Or "Me should have dinner sometime" Now this definitely sounds nonsensical!
That leaves you with the correct answer, which is "You and I should have dinner sometime".
Let's try this cheat-rule again! Consider "You and (I or me) are going to the prom tonight".
Apply the cheat-rule of using I or me in the sentence all by itself.
We have "I am going to the prom tonight" vs "Me am going to the prom tonight".
Now we know that I definitely works for this sentence, so the correct usage would be "You and I are going to the prom tonight"!

Coming to the last rule, RULE no 4)
Try to expand the sentences wherever possible to avoid ambiguity! Compare the sentences with 'I' or 'me' and then go back to the shortened sentence.
Look at this sentence! Is it:
Mom likes icecream more than me. OR
Mom likes icecream more than I.
Not sure?
Write down the complete sentence by expanding it.
It has to be either "Mom likes icecream more than me like icecream" or "Mom likes icecream more than I like icecream".
Isn't the answer obvious?
Now go back to the correct shortened sentence, which would be "Mom likes icecream more than I".

Now let keep these secret rules of using 'I' or 'me' between you and me!

Nuclear Reactor - Understanding how it works | Physics Elearnin video

Nuclear reactors are the modern day devices extensively used for power generation as the traditional fossil fuels, like coal, are at the breach of extinction. A nuclear reactor is the source of intense heat which is in turn used for generation of power in nuclear power station. Its mechanism is similar to that of a furnace in a steam generator; the steam is used to drive the turbines of the electric generator system.
A nuclear reactor consists of three crucial components: Fuel elements, moderator and control rods.
Fuel elements come usually in the shape of thin rods of about 1cm in diameter and contain fissionable nuclei, like Uranium (235 92U or 238 92U). These rods vary in number according to the size of the reactor, in large power reactor thousands of fuel elements are placed close to each other. This region where these fuel elements are placed is called the reactor core. These fuel elements are normally immersed in water which acts as a moderator.
The objective of a moderator is to slow down the energy neutrons in a nuclear reactor which are produced during the nuclear fission process by the fuel elements. Thermal neutrons, which are neutrons with energy of about 0.04 electron volts, are capable of producing fission reaction with 235 92U. During the fission reaction process, new neutrons are given out which have energies of about 1 MeV. These neutrons of typically escape from participating in another fission process as they are accompanied by enormous energy release. In f -ct, the probability of these neutrons produce another fission reaction is 500 times less than as compared to that of a thermal neutron. This is where moderator is extremely useful. Moderator has the capability to slow down, or in other words moderate, the speed of these high-energy neutrons, so that they can in turn be used for a chain reaction to trigger multiple fission reactions of other 235 92U nucleus.
Commonly, ordinary or heavy water is used as moderator in nuclear reactors because of the deuterons present in them which are capable of slowing the neutron speed. Water molecules in the moderator are useful in slowing down the high-energy neutrons which leave the fuel-element after nuclear fission. These high-energy neutrons collide with water molecules thereby losing out on some energy with every collision and therefore slow down substantially. A new fission reaction can now be triggered using this slow neutron by striking it with the fuel element.
The third and of the most prominent part of a nuclear reactor are the control rods. In order to get a steady output of energy from the nuclear reactor, every single nuclear fission reaction should trigger another fission reaction and ensure the availability of a spare neutron released to trigger the chain reaction. By controlling the number of spare neutrons available at any given time, the rate of the nuclear fission chain reaction can be controlled. This control on the fission reaction can be maintained using the control rods.
The main function of the control rods is to absorb any excess or spare neutron in the moderator in order to prevent any further fission reaction. Usually such control rods are made of Boron or Cadmium. To increase the rate of fission reactions, these rods can be removed from the moderator. A steady output of energy can be thus maintained by inserting or removing the control rods in the nuclear reactor.
Now that we know the components of a nuclear reactor, let us understand the working of a nuclear reactor. It is usually enclosed in a shield made of thick concrete walls. It consists of a reactor core, pump and heat exchanger. The reactor core and pump are in placed in contact with the water, which is usually the heat exchanger used in reactors. Due to the enormous amount of heat released dusing nuclear fission reaction, this surrounding water gets heated up and changes to steam, which is in turn used to turn the turbines. Thus huge heat energy gets converted into electrical energy. Water is continuously flown in and out of the nuclear reactor using the pump.
Thus a nuclear reactor successfully generates nuclear energy from fission reaction.

I made this solar system 3d model for my school or science fair. So, she can understand better and can remember all the planets name. It can be good for school project also. It's easy and fun. Anyone can make it at home.
For this project what you need:
1) Foam balls (Different size for all the planets and the sun)
2) Black Foamboard
3) Acrylic paint
4) Hot glue
5) foam sheet
6) white chalk
At first, I colored all the foam balls for making planets and the sun with acrylic paint. And for Saturn ring, I used foam sheet and colored it with acrylic paint and glue it to the Saturn.

Now I cut the foam board (11x20 inch) 1 piece,
(3x11 inch) 2 pieces, (3x20 inch) 2 pieces.
Then join together as shown in the video and make it like box
Now paint with acrylic color using tissue paper so it will create a texture. Then take a toothbrush dip into white paint and sprinkle with your finger for more realistic look. Then using chalk draw the line of the orbit of the planets. And then stick all the Planets and the Sun using hot glue. Now your 3D Solar system is done.

In this video, John follows the surprisingly complex path of a t-shirt as it crisscrosses the world before coming to rest on your doorstep, and eventually in your dresser. The story of the t-shirt and its manufacture in far-flung places like China, Guatemala, and India is a microcosm of what's going on in the global economy. Globalization is a bit of a mixed bag, and there have definitely been winners and losers along the way. In this episode, John will talk about some of the benefits that have come along with it. Next week, he'll get into some of the less-positive side effects of globalization.
