Meet our chess lesson for kids: How Queen Moves and Captures | Chess Lessons | Kids Academy
The strongest piece of chess is the queen. She is the strongest soldier in the team. Letโs see how queen moves and captures and find an easy way to learn chess.
How does it move?
A queen can move like a rook as well as a bishop which means that it can move the maximum number of squares on the board. It can move on diagonals, ranks, and files. It can move a total of 27 squares which means it can attack 27 squares in all directions.
If it moves sideways it means that it moved like a rook. If it moves on a diagonal, then itโs a bishop move.
How does it attack?
The queen can have multiple paths to reach to its enemy. It can either use the rook moves or the bishop moves to capture the enemy. It can either move on the ranks and reach to its target or it can move diagonally and capture the target.
These multiple movements make the queen the strongest pieces on the chess board, as much as the king. It is the strongest defender of the king and can save the king from many difficult situations. Since it can take such great leaps on the chess, its attack may come as a surprise to the opponent who did not pay much attention to where the queen was. So, beware of the queen.

Chess for Kids | Power, and Value of Pieces | Kids Academy
Chess is one of those games which help in increasing your childโs concentration. The most important thing which a child needs to know is the power and values of pieces. Here is a simple way to learn how to play chess in 10 minutes. Since every part has its strength and value, therefore, these are the things which need to be determined first. So, letโs begin!!!
Starting from the king; it is the most critical piece, and the opponents need to protect it to win the game. The weakest one in the game is Pawn which can attack two squares diagonally forward which makes it worth one point. Other than this is the knight who can attack eight squares in each direction and has more value than the pawn. The bishop has even more powerful and can attack thirteen squares at a time. These are also the fast pieces and can move diagonally.
Moreover, there is a wall which can move 14 squares in any direction and tends to have more power and value than the knight and bishop.
Last but not least is the queen who is the strongest and can act like a bishop and a wall. In simple words, the queen holds the most power. Simple, isnโt it? If you want to learn more about chess make sure you practice and watch chess tutorials too!!!

When students are learning about communities and community topics in 2nd and third grade, they go past the basic vocabulary they learned in kindergarten and 1st grade. They begin to dig deeper into community concepts, starting to learn how to differentiate between urban, suburban and rural communities. Theyโll learn about what makes each of those communities uniqueโhow homes in suburban communities often have amenities and people commuting, for example. Or, how urban areas like cities always seem to have something going on and how they differ from rural areas that are quieter and often spread out. Then the teacher will help them move outside of their home and neighborhood and into the world at large. Theyโll delve into the concepts of social community, which is a group of people that they enjoy spending time with. Especially important with neighborhood for grade 2 concepts, children will learn how their local schools and parks and other common places are part both part of their neighborhoods and possibly their social communities.
At this age, children learn how to fit the small pieces of community into a larger, more global view. With the engaging pictures, theyโll see how home and school fit together into neighborhoods and communities that belong in their specific states. The clear and concise wording walks kids through their belonging to their state, country and continental communities as a citizen who belongs to many different communities, and teaches them vocabulary words like country and continent.
As citizens of the earth, the final worksheet reviewed in this communities compilation talks about recycling for kids, and how each citizen can make a difference in taking care of their communities. Theyโll learn about what things can and canโt be recycled, as well as what happens to an item as it takes its trip to the recycling plant. Theyโll even get to help their video friends sort items for recycling and watch them be transported away in an effort to keep their neighborhood community and their larger, global community and world in great shape.

How to Play Chess - Animated Cartoon Series for Beginners | Kids Academy
Parents and teachers realize that school success and higher test scores lead to more opportunities in the secondary and college years. Chess for kids is a great way to improve higher-order thinking and problem-solving skills, and reading and math skills. Many US states and other countries around the world include chess in their curricula.
The best part about chess for kids is that all children can play at whatever level of ability they possess.
To learn chess for kids, simplified instruction is necessary. Video lessons are an effective and easy way to learn the basics of chess as the chess moves, strategies and techniques are viewed and learned in small chunks.
The learner has the option to play the video multiple times until mastery of the concept or skill is mastered. For instance, when a young player is working on how to learn chess, he or she discovers that in the opening moves of play it is important to control the center, develop your pieces and protect your king by castling.
As the childโs ability level increases, the player can begin to learn strategic moves for a quick check-mate as well as how to defend against these moves. The Scholarโs Mate is a 4-move check-mate strategy that many players learn when acquiring the basics of chess.
Viewing games that chess masters played in the past is another great way to learn the basics of chess. One such game is the Opera Game. In this game, chess master Paul Morphy demonstrates one of the best active attacking games of all time.
Teachers that encourage chess for kids in their classrooms see better results in the childrenโs academic performance and experience a positive classroom environment.
Parents that play the game with children at home enjoy quality time with their kids and know that playing chess helps children academically.

"Itsy Bitsy Spider" (also known as "Incy Wincy Spider") and several other similar-sounding names) is a popular nursery rhyme and fingerplay that describes the adventures of a spider as it ascends, descends, and reascends the downspout or "waterspout" of a gutter system. It is usually accompanied by a sequence of gestures that mimic the words of the song.
LYRICS:
The itsy bitsy spider climbed up the waterspout.
Down came the rain
and washed the spider out.
Out came the sun
and dried up all the rain
and the itsy bitsy spider climbed up the spout again.
x4
FINGERPLAY:
Alternately touch the thumb of one hand to the index finger of the other.
Hold both hands up and wiggle the fingers as the hands are lowered.
Sweep the hands from side to side.
Raise both hands and sweep to the sides to form a semicircle as the sun.
Wiggle fingers upwards.
(as in the first line)

Welcome our new video: Sorting Games | Logic Games for Kids | Sorting Objects into 2 Groups
Sorting can be made very easy for kids through some simple logic and sorting games. A human brain is always working and like that of a kid since it is like a blank canvas it is the other humans that are painting it, which means that the kids are making sense out of everything. It is the responsibility of parents and teachers to make sure that whatever they are naming these things and whatever sense they are making they are doing it right.
You can play different sorting games with the kid to clear the concept. Let me explain.
1. Sorting objects into two groups of the same color
You can make two groups of colors, for example, red and blue. Now collect some objects of these two colors and then ask the kid to put the same colored objects in one group. Help the kid along. Colors are the easiest to sort and kids can easily do it.
2. Sorting objects into two groups of the same size
Either an object is big, or it is small. When you make these two groups of small and big the kid will be better able to understand where to put each object and which goes into the category of small and which object is referred to as big. Appreciate the participation of kid and correct him/her as they make any mistake but very gently.
3. Sorting objects into two groups of the same shape
Letโs just stick to square and circle for this time. these two are the easiest to sort shapes and it would be better if the kid starts with some basic and easy shapes. Grab all the toys of your child and itโs time for some sorting based on the shape of the toy.
These are some easy sorting games that you can play with your kid. Such games maintain the interest of kid and enhance the learning process as well.
Welcome to our new videos of matching objects with animals funny and interactive.

This fun and educational video explain sorting and matching clearly and logically. This video is perfect for parents and teachers of toddlers, preschool children, and kindergarten since the explanation of the concept is easy to understand, and the animation is child-friendly. Learn the same and different for kids with our video!
The video shows the elephant character blowing up balloons and then comparing the balloons. The elephant first blows up two toy balloons that are yellow. Children learn the balloons are both yellow and the same size and shape. The elephant describes the balloons as the โsameโ. The elephant then blows up a red balloon. The children now learn that even though all toys are balloons and have the same shape, the red balloon is a different color. The elephant explains that the balloon is โdifferent.โ The elephant further explains the topic by blowing up toy balloons shaped like stars and demonstrates using the colors blue and pink. The concept of what is the same and different is demonstrated again.
Children also view balloon ducklings that are the same shape and color but are different sizes. The elephant clearly explains why these toys are different.
Comparison for kids is an important math skill. When children sort and compare they learn that objects are the same and different and can be organized into specific groups. When children begin doing more complex math operations this same concept applies.
If parents and teachers want to extend the learning in the video, then look for things in the childโs home or classroom environment for matching and sorting practice. Sort students in a classroom by hair or eye color. Sort students by the color or their shirts or shoes. At home match socks by color and size. Matching and sorting blocks is another great activity.
Enjoy this video and learn about attributes such as size and shape to describe objects that are the same or different.

Educational video for kids to learn social skills to be a good citizen in a fun and easy way! Apart from all the academic learning, it is very important that your child grows up with some good morals too. Being a good citizen is one of them. Your kid must know what kind of gestures and what acts he must do in order to be a good citizen. And it is the parentโs responsibility to explain and demonstrate it to their kids what being a good citizen means. To give you a head start let me explain something to you.
A good citizen is a person who is kind to the people around them.
Being a good citizen also means that you keep your environment neat and clean. All the trash must be thrown into the dustbin. Being naive to your neighbors also makes you a good citizen.
You can prepare some worksheets with different scenarios printed on it. Ask the child to encircle the situations in which the kid is being a good citizen. This would, of course, include a small girl being polite to the elderly. You can also put a picture of some kid drawing on a wall, this would go under the category of the bad citizen which the child must be able to distinguish.
In the same way, you can use some other situations to demonstrate the concept of a good citizen.
But remember the kids learn what they see. If they see you throwing your trash on the road or being impolite to the elderly, they would do the same. So, make sure you practice good behavior yourself so that your kid becomes a good person automatically.

Force and Motion for Kids | Ramps | Kids Academy
When you are building the basics of science in your kidโs mind, you must be very clear and very easy to understand. Science basics start from force and motion. Both the two words are interconnected to each other. We will keep things simple and easy for kids.
Motion is when something changes its position and moves from one place to another. However, this motion is not caused by itself, some external energy is required for motion. This energy is called force. Force can be either push or pull. Push is when we move the object away from ourselves and pull is when we move the object towards us.
An object will not move or change its position unless or until an external force is applied to it.
So, this was all the theory. To further clear out the concept do some simple yet fun activities at home or school, to make this concept more interesting for kids because there are high chances that kids might find it boring and tiring.
Use some fun toys to explain the concept of pushing and pulling. This would make the kid more interested in the topic and then he would explore things on his own.

It's Kids Academy and welcome back to our channel! When comparing numbers, learners will examine and then assess whether a given number is greater than, less than or equal to another number. When students are comparing numbers correctly, they are able to make logical estimations, solve division problems more easily and develop number sense.
When children are efficient with counting to 100 and familiar with place value, then they can begin to compare 2-digit numbers. Students usually doing math in 1st grade are ready to be comparing numbers. Using base 10 counting blocks, students can show a given quantity.
For example, the number of twenty-five can be shown with the blocks as 2 tens and 5 ones. Likewise, number 43 can be shown as 4 tens and 3 ones. The student can easily see that number 43 is greater than 25. Now the child can assign the โgreater thanโ math symbol to the problem.
Base 10 counting blocks are a great tool to use when comparing numbers for 1st grade, but other visual tools are effective when teaching this math skill.
The Kidโs Academy comparing numbers video is a great visual for instruction or reinforcement of this math concept. In the video, the student sees fun race cars zooming down a track. Each of the cars has 2 digit numbers on the side. The speaker in the video then compares the different numbers on the cars.
Students are also shown how to assign the โgreater thanโ and โless thanโ math symbols correctly as well as reminded to look at the number in the tens place when first making the comparison. Furthermore, students are shown several racing cars and have ample opportunity to practice comparing 2-digit numbers.
Comparing numbers for 1st grade is fun with the use of the counters and engaging videos. After instruction students are ready to compare and describe quantities and use this knowledge in everyday life.

Suffixes ful, less, ly, able | English Grammar for Children | Grade 2 | Kids Academy
The English language is very interesting, if you look at the words closely you will see some repetitive combination of alphabets ending the words. These letters that end a word are called โsuffixes. These suffixes change the meaning of words and can create new words. In this video we talk about 4 suffixes:
-ful
-less
-ly
-able
-ful
When we add suffix -ful to a word it changes its meaning to โfull ofโ. For example:
โข Colorful
โข Grateful
-less
When we add -less to a word it means โwithoutโ, which means that something is without the word thatโs in the start of this word. For example:
โข Homeless
โข Helpless
-ly
The suffix -ly can be used to answer two questions, how often and how. For example:
1. How did she act? Answer: Badly
2. How often does she dance? Answer: Weekly
-able
-able simply means โcanโ. That something can be done. For example:
โข Respectable
โข Comfortable

A community is a place where people live together with each other. People in a community interact with each other and responsible for the well-being of their community.
There are two major types of communities:
