Educational video for children that talks about the sixth of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), clean water and sanitation. Water is a very important resource that all living beings depend on. Water sanitation refers to the set of technical and social actions that make safe and accessible water available to everyone in the world. According to data from the United Nations, one out of every three people in the world does not have access to drinking water, and two out of every five do not have a basic facility to wash their hands. Millions of people do not even have access to a toilet. All this makes hygiene conditions in many places quite limited. For these and other reasons, the UN has made clean water and sanitation one of its Sustainable Development Goals. The United Nations aims to achieve universal access to safe drinking water within the next few years. To achieve this, it is essential to reduce pollution and to make water sources more available in every inhabited place on the planet.
This video is a very useful and interesting resource for children. It is perfect for teaching what the Sustainable Development Goals are. It is an excellent video for primary education.

The mystery of Africa splitting in two has puzzled scientists for decades. Now researchers finally believe they’ve found the hidden force behind it. Roads, homes, even entire landscapes are being reshaped, and one day this rift could create a whole new ocean. But this isn’t the only strange discovery shaking our world. In this video, you’ll also see the most mysterious volcanoes, lost cities hidden for centuries, unbelievable archaeological finds, and secrets buried deep under the ground. From ancient artifacts scientists still can’t explain, to vanished civilizations and jaw-dropping natural phenomena, these are the stories that rewrite what we thought we knew about our planet and its history.

J. Robert Oppenheimer forever changed the course of history. He may be the most important physicist to have ever lived. Part of this video is sponsored by Wren. Offset your carbon footprint on Wren: https://www.wren.co/start/veritasium1 For the first 100 people who sign up, I will personally pay for the first month of your subscription!
If you want to learn more about Oppenheimer, I strongly recommend the book “American Prometheus” By Kai Bird and Martin Sherwin. It was the inspiration for Christopher Nolan's 2023 film "Oppenheimer", which won multiple awards, including Oscars in 2024 for Best Picture and Best Actor (Cillian Murphy).

So we ended last episode at the start of the 20th century with special purpose computing devices such as Herman Hollerith’s tabulating machines. But as the scale of human civilization continued to grow as did the demand for more sophisticated and powerful devices. Soon these cabinet-sized electro-mechanical computers would grow into room-sized behemoths that were prone to errors. But is was these computers that would help usher in a new era of computation - electronic computing.
