Part of becoming financially literate is understanding how to calculate interest. In this video, your kids or students will learn what exactly interest is and how they can calculate it. Interest is an amount of money that you either pay or earn. Whether you pay or earn depends on the situation. If you borrow money, you have to pay interest. If you save money at a bank, you will earn interest.
There are a few terms you should be familiar with. The principal is the amount of money you start with that you are borrowing or spending. Another term to know is rate. The rate is the percentage you are charged (if borrowing money from a bank/company) or paid (if saving money in a bank). You will be able to use the rate and principal to determine the interest using an equation: Interest = Principal x Rate x Time (years).
The video goes through a helpful example scenario to walk you through calculating interest when saving money at a bank. In this case, Frankie Finance is starting with $200. The rate will be 0.15. Based on the equation, Frankie will earn $30 dollars per year in interest. Next, you can follow another scenario in which Frankie borrows money and owes $30 extra a year! The equation is the same regardless of whether or not you're borrowing or saving.

Do you know why the heart is so important? In The Human Heart for Kids video, you will learn that the heart, apart from pumping blood, also carries lots of other important things throughout the body. The heart is an organ made up mostly of muscle, and it plays a vital role in keeping you and your body healthy and strong.
The human heart is one the most important organs of the body that is essential for survival. It is part of the circulatory system, which is the body system that carries blood and other substances to and from the heart. The other main parts of the circulatory system are blood vessels, which include veins, arteries, and capillaries. And the heart beats automatically because it's controlled by the autonomic nervous system. In 24 hours, your heart averages about 115,000 beats per day!
So how does the heart work exactly? Well, the heart consists of left and right ventricles at the bottom and left and right atriums at the top. Blood pushes through the atriums into the ventricles on each side of the heart through little "gates" every time the heart beats. These gates basically help ensure the blood flows in the right direction. The blood travels through the different vessels throughout the rest of the body. You can think of blood vessels as little train tracks that carry blood to different parts of the body. The trip for a single drop of blood throughout the body takes only about a minute.
Blood carries oxygen, food, minerals, and vitamins as well, and all these things help your body move, grow, and make repairs. In fact, they even help you think! The stuff in your blood that the body doesn't need gets set out as waste through the lungs, kidneys, and liver. To keep your heart healthy, there are a few things you can do. Exercising will help strengthen the muscles of your heart. Eating fruits and vegetables also helps keep your arteries clear. Drinking plenty of water is also essential because water makes up about 83% of the heart. If you don't have enough water, your heart can become less and less healthy. Finally, remember to move around. Moving around helps both your body and your mind.

Did you know that different parts of the world are called different things according to the areas properties and wildlife? In this video, you and your kids will learn about several types of habitats that are found all around the globe. You'll learn about the driest places, the wettest places, the coldest places, the tallest places, and more!
First up is grasslands. These areas are full of tall grass and not a lot of trees. You can find them on every continent except Antarctica. Types of grasslands include prairies and savannas. Deserts are next. Even though most people think deserts are always hot, this isn't actually true. Some are very cold. These places are defined as having very little rain or being incredibly dry. Not a lot of animals or plants can survive the desert habitat.
Next you'll learn about a few types of forests: rainforests, temperate forests, and coniferous forests. Rainforests receive rain all year around and are home to more animals than all the other habitats combined!. Temperate forests are ones with trees that lose their leaves in the winter or remain green all year around. Coniferous forests are the forests that have the tallest trees in the world. They can survive extremely cold temperatures.
Speaking of cold, mountain habitats are much cooler because they are so high up. They receive less oxygen. Polar regions are likewise extremely cold. In fact, they're the coldest places on Earth. There are only two polar regions—the Arctic at the top of the globe and the Antarctic at the bottom. Very few types of animals can live here, such as polar bears and whales.
Water habitats exist as well, both freshwater and saltwater bodies are home to habitats like coral reefs and oceans. Freshwater habitats can be found nearly anywhere in the world. Coral reefs are usually around tropical areas of the globe. The ocean is the largest animal habitat in the world. I bet you can guess why! And believe it or not, cities and farms are their own habitats as well.

When you think of Halloween, do you ever think of Ireland? Well, turns out, most of our Halloween traditions, including the name, come from the Celts! Dressing up in disguises is all thanks to the Samhein festival. Even our tradition of pumpkin carving originated from an Irish folk tale.
Halloween is one of the oldest traditions in world history and comes from the Celts. It marked the end of summer and beginning of fall/winter season. That's why it's celebrated in the fall. The Celts passed down their history and culture orally, meaning they didn't write any of it down. Druids, or Celtic priests, were the ones responsible for passing it on to the next generation.
The Celts believed people transitions from physically living on Earth to living in a spiritual world when they died. During the Samhein festival, the Celts would stock up on supplies for the winter and welcome guests from the afterlife. If spirits appeared that had been wronged by a living person, the living person would disguise themselves with masks or with ashes from a fire. Have you ever heard of a region of the world known as Oceania? Oceania for Kids explores the history and some interesting facts about the area. It consists of 10,000 islands and 14 countries in the Pacific Ocean. In fact, Oceania covers around 20 million square miles, which is about a third of the entire Pacific Ocean! However, if you condense it all down to just land area, it is much smaller in comparison, at just under 3.3 million square miles.
Historians believe that over 30,000 years ago, humans migrated from Asia to the islands in Oceania. Most think the first immigrants stopped in New Guinea and eventually travelled to the other islands. While the people started with one culture, traveling to other islands led to the development of unique cultures in each place. That makes Oceania one of the most culturally diverse areas on the planet.
The video describes a little bit about each of the 14 countries that are part of this beautiful region. For instance, Australia makes up most of the land mass given its massive size as an island. Fiji is made of 332 islands, but only around a third of them are inhabited. Kiribati is the only country in the world that has islands spread across all four hemispheres.
Micronesia is home to the world's only ancient city built on a coral reef. The city is called Nan Madol. The country is also home to the largest crabs in the world. Nauru is only eight square miles in area, which is smaller than most cities in the US! Almost half of all dolphin and whale species can be found off the coast of New Zealand. Did you know that 70% of the earth is covered by water? Water is everywhere! You and your kids or students will learn all sorts of interesting things about water in this video.. Water is a major necessity to life. Without water, life on Earth wouldn't even exist! And that includes all life—not just humankind.
This video describes what water is made of: hydrogen and oxygen. It also talks about how water can be found in the form of a solid, liquid, or gas. As a solid, it's called ice. That happens when water freezes. In fact, snowflakes are simply really, really small ice crystals, but they are still water! When water gets hot, it turns into a gas. This is called water vapor or steam.
Water can be found almost anywhere. Most of it is in liquid form and is found in the oceans all over the world. But don't forget about polar ice caps and glaciers, lakes and rivers, and ground water from rain that has seeped into the earth. There are two types of water: salt water and fresh water. Most of the water on Earth is salt water. Humans can only drink fresh water, however, because drinking salt water would make us sick. This video explains that if you compared all the water on the earth to a gallon of water, only a teaspoon of it would equal the amount of fresh water on the earth!

When you think about dinosaurs, is the tyrannosaurs rex the first to come to mind? Maybe not, but we're sure you have at least heard of it! In this video for kids, you will learn fun facts about this king of the tyrant lizards.
The tyrannosaurs rex, or T-Rex, was an apex predator. That means that it was at the very top of the food chain; it was prey to no other animal. From snout to tail, it was up to 40 feet long, and it weighed 7 to 8 tons. That's as long and as heavy as a modern school bus! Despite the large size, these creatures could run as fast as 25 miles per hour!
The T-Rex had a strong sense of smell that helped them find prey as well as potential mates. In fact, their sense of smell is really similar to that of a house cat! And technically, the T-Rex is a distant cousin of the chicken as well. Some scientists even think the T-Rex might have had feathers.
Now, what about the arms? Well, watch the video to find out about these small but strong appendages.

What is the difference between something that is alive and something that is not? You and your kids will learn all about the characteristics of both living and non-living things. Both have special characteristics that differentiate the two groups. Living things grow, eat, and reproduce. They can also breathe, have senses, and move. However, some non-living things can move, too. Think about fire or water. They aren't alive, but they definitely move!
Things that are alive grow, such as chicks that become hens or sprouts that become plants. They also have to eat, or take in nutrients, to survive. Different species need different nutrients, but they all require nutrients to live and grow. And both plants and animals reproduce to create more of their own kind. Non-living things can't do any of these things.
In addition, things that are not alive also do not breathe or have senses. For instance, a teddy bear cannot feel you touch it. A waterfall cannot see anything. However, some of these objects do move. As mentioned, fire and water aren't alive, but they move all on their own. Other things, like cars, can move as well, but not on their own. These objects require people to make them move. In addition, non-living things can be solids, liquids, or gases.

What is an ocean? What is a lake? What do you call water that flows down a mountain? In this video, you and your kid(s) will learn all about the many bodies of water that cover the earth. You will discover what to call both the largest and smallest water bodies. Over 70% of the earth's surface is made up of water. That means there is more than double the amount of water than there is land!
Some bodies of water are made up of salt water. Others, such as many lakes and streams, contain fresh water. There is a lot more salt water than fresh water, though. Over 95% of water sources are salt water. That's because most of the water on the planet comes from oceans, which are by far the biggest water bodies. Not to mention, the deepest part of the ocean is deeper than the height of Mt. Everest! Scientists believe there are around a million species living in the ocean! While trees convert carbon dioxide to oxygen, did you know about 70% of Earth's oxygen supply actually comes from phytoplankton in the oceans?
You will also learn about reservoirs and lakes. Reservoirs are essentially man-made lakes. People create man-made lakes or reservoirs by damming up a river, holding back a lot of water in one place. The largest freshwater lake in the world is Lake Superior, which is located between Canada and the United States.
Rivers are unique in their own way. Rivers can flow down mountain, through valleys, or across plains. They flow toward either an ocean, a sea, a lake, or another river. They are very useful because they provide food, transportation, power, and a place to bathe! The Amazon and Nile Rivers are the two longest rivers. You will also learn about streams, which are kind of like mini rivers. They also come with a lot of different names, such as bayou, creek, and wash.

In this video, we will learn about the real name for shooting stars: meteors! Your student(s) will learn all about these fiery rocks. More specifically, they will learn that meteors have a few different names depending on where they are on their journey to the earth's surface. They start out as meteoroids. Meteoroids are pieces of metal or rock that break off comets or asteroids when they crash into each other in space. They are not actually called meteors until they begin to fall toward Earth's atmosphere! Then, if they make it through, they get a new name again once they've landed somewhere on the earth: meteorites.
Your student(s) will learn about the both the biggest and oldest meteorites that have been discovered. The largest meteorite is named Hoba, which means gift, located in Namibia, Africa. It weighs 60 tons, which is 120,000 pounds! And the oldest meteorite is named the Fukang Meteorite. It was discovered near Fukang, China, and is believed to be about 4.5 billion years old. That means that it is about the same age, or even older, than our planet!
Children will also love learning about meteor showers. Meteor showers can be predicted throughout the year. It looks like hundreds or even thousands of shooting stars falling from the sky.

Do you know where the "We Can Do It!" poster came from? In Who Was Rosie the Riveter? for Kids, you'll learn about the history of the poster and its significance during World War II. You may be wondering what exactly a riveter is. Well, it's someone who job is to fasten or secure things using rivets. You can find rivets on the hulls of ships or on airplanes where the metal skin attaches to the wings.
Before the war, mostly men worked factory jobs doing mechanical work, including the job of riveting. Once the US joined the war, most of the factory workers went to fight in the war. That meant there were lots of jobs that needed to be filled, especially since many of the things the military needed were the things factories produced. So who was left to fill those rolls? Women!
A campaign to recruit female workers began, and Rosie the Riveter was born! Redd Evans and John Jacob Loeb wrote the song entitled "Rosie the Riveter" in 1942, basing it off of a woman named Rosalind P. Walker. Rosalind was working at a factory that made fighter airplanes for the military. The famous poster was created in 1942 by J. Howard Miller to encourage people to work together to help the US win the war. It later became associated with the Rosie the Riveter campaign, which is why most people now associate the poster with Rosie the Riveter!
