Precalculus on Khan Academy: You may think that precalculus is simply the course you take before calculus. You would be right, of course, but that definition doesn't mean anything unless you have some knowledge of what calculus is. Let's keep it simple, shall we? Calculus is a conceptual framework which provides systematic techniques for solving problems. These problems are appropriately applicable to analytic geometry and algebra. Therefore....precalculus gives you the background for the mathematical concepts, problems, issues and techniques that appear in calculus, including trigonometry, functions, complex numbers, vectors, matrices, and others. There you have it ladies and gentlemen....an introduction to precalculus!

About Khan Academy: Khan Academy offers practice exercises, instructional videos, and a personalized learning dashboard that empower learners to study at their own pace in and outside of the classroom. We tackle math, science, computer programming, history, art history, economics, and more. Our math missions guide learners from kindergarten to calculus using state-of-the-art, adaptive technology that identifies strengths and learning gaps. We've also partnered with institutions like NASA, The Museum of Modern Art, The California Academy of Sciences, and MIT to offer specialized content.

Linear Algebra on Khan Academy: Have you ever wondered what the difference is between speed and velocity? Ever try to visualize in four dimensions or six or seven? Linear algebra describes things in two dimensions, but many of the concepts can be extended into three, four or more. Linear algebra implies two dimensional reasoning, however, the concepts covered in linear algebra provide the basis for multi-dimensional representations of mathematical reasoning. Matrices, vectors, vector spaces, transformations, eigenvectors/values all help us to visualize and understand multi dimensional concepts. This is an advanced course normally taken by science or engineering majors after taking at least two semesters of calculus (although calculus really isn't a prereq) so don't confuse this with regular high school algebra.

About Khan Academy: Khan Academy offers practice exercises, instructional videos, and a personalized learning dashboard that empower learners to study at their own pace in and outside of the classroom. In the final years of the First World War, the Russian Empire was coming to its end. It had been devastated by revolution and finally transformed into the first Communist country in the World. In the years following the Revolution, non-Russian nations that lived under the House of Romanov sought to secure their long-lost independence. One of these was Ukrainе. From 1917 until 1921, the Ukrainians had struggled to build and secure an independent country, fighting against the new regime, against their neighbors in the west, and also among themselves.

There is some debate which should be taught first – UPPERCASE letters of lowercase letters. On the one hand, uppercase letters are easier to identify and draw. On the other hand, most of what is written is in lowercase.
Whichever order you choose, we have prepared this entertaining video for teaching uppercase letters. Cute animals, natural phenomena and your kids’ favorite foods will introduce letters to your little ones and help them learn their ABCs.

Uppercase Letters - Learn the Alphabet | Kids Academy

Teaching alphabets sound easy but in reality, it’s one daunting task to decide what to teach the kids and where to start from. Especially when it comes to the uppercase and lowercase alphabets, the teachers themselves can get very confused about what to teach first. It’s not only the written alphabets that you have to teach to the children, in fact, you even have to teach the sounds. So, if you are facing some real-time confusion on deciding what to focus on first then don’t worry and just refer straight to the internet.

Honestly as far as our suggestion is concerned, well, it depends on your students and their learning caliber than what you should be teaching them first. If your kids are more drawn to visuals then yes, you should first teach them how to write the uppercase and lowercase alphabets but if the visuals aren’t necessary to the kids to learn each and everything that you tell them then yes, you can start with the sounds.

For those who don’t know, the uppercase letters are the letters that are written in capital and the lowercase ones are those that are written in small. For example, BOX contains all the uppercase letters and “box” contains all the lowercase letters. It’s one easy to teach and understand a thing so don’t worry because by using different fun activities and games, you can easily teach it all to your students.
