This fun subtraction sentences song will engage students with movement as they actively participate in solving the subtraction sentence they are presented with.

Students will glide like eagles as they are shown the eagle subtraction sentence to solve. Students will swim like alligators as they are shown the alligator subtraction sentence to solve. Students will run fast in place as they are shown the runner subtraction sentence to solve. Students will pretend to pump weights as they are shown the body builders subtraction sentence to solve. Students are shown the whole set and then will be presented with a subtraction problem to find the difference. Both objects and the subtraction fact will be shown on the screen. Have fun acting out basic subtraction facts.

This video reinforces the subtraction standards.
Represent and solve problems involving addition and subtraction.

CCSS.MATH.CONTENT.1.OA.A.1
Use addition and subtraction within 20 to solve word problems involving situations of adding to, taking from, putting together, taking apart, and comparing, with unknowns in all positions, e.g., by using objects, drawings, and equations with a symbol for the unknown number to represent the problem.

Lyrics
Subtraction action, this is how you play
Move your body and take away
When you subtract things you get the difference
Let's do subtraction, move and have fun

Four bald eagles are gliding in the air
Two bald eagles fly down and land somewhere
How many bald eagles are gliding in the air?
4 - 2 = 2

Three alligators are swimming in the lake
Two alligators go on the grass and take a break?
3 - 2 = 1

Ten fast runners are running in a race
Five fast runners finish at record pace
How many fast runners are running in the race?
10 - 5 = 5

Eight body builders are pumping up some weights
Five body builders stop and take a break
How many body builders are still pumping up some weights?
8 - 5 = 3

Subtraction action, this is how you play
Move your body and take away
When you subtract things you get the difference
Let's do subtraction, move and have fun

In this video we learn all about constellations for kids. At night we can see thousands of stars and scientists long ago figured out that the stars line up in recognizable patterns. The patterns form shapes of people, animals, and mythological beings. Early astronomers called these special patterns constellations. Each star in the pattern has a name and is connected to form a different constellation. It is almost like a โ€œconnect-the-dotsโ€ picture, but instead of using numbers and dots, the twinkling stars are connected to form the special patterns. You have have heard of the Big Dipper, Orions Belt, or Aries, but these are only a few of the constellations there are many more!

Many constellations have their roots in myths. A myth is an ancient story about many different things. Constellation myths are usually stories about gods, heroes and creatures such
as serpents, dragons, flying horses and more. The images related to these myths are formed using connected stars. The Greeks and Romans created the stories for constellations.

In addition to the constellation myths, there are ancient and modern uses of constellations:
1. They helped ancient farmers know when to plant and harvest crops. Constellations can be used as a calendar in the sky.
2. Travelers use them to navigate from one place to another, relying on different stars to guide them on journeys throughout the world.
3. Modern astronomers and star gazers use them to help keep track of specific stars in the sky.
4. Astronomers use them to locate other objects in the sky such as galaxies or nebulae, which are areas where gas and dust are cluttered

We hope you and your kids enjoyed our constellation video and are able to identify some of the major constellations when you look up at the stars at night. Every February, Americans celebrate the lives and achievements of African Americans in American history. In 1915, an African American historian named Carter G. Woodson decided to give proper recognition to the accomplishments of Black Americans by starting the Association for the Study of Negro Life and History and declared the second week in February as "Negro History Week." President Gerald Ford decided that the week-long celebration of Black history should become a month-long period instead.

We hope you and your student(s) enjoyed learning about Black History Month! If you want even more information, head over to our website and download one of our many free lesson plans, full of activities, worksheets, and more!

Have you ever heard of the Lewis and Clark Expedition? What about Sacagawea? In this video, you and your kids will learn all about this incredible journey. Before we talk about the expedition, it's important to understand why it happened in the first place. And that reason all lies in the Louisiana Purchase.

President Thomas Jefferson bought about 828,000 square miles of land from the French, which included six states and parts of nine others. This purchase nearly doubled the size of the United States! The colonists had never explored these areas before, and President Jefferson also wanted to know information about natural resources, plants, animals, geology, weather, and climate in the area. In addition, he wanted to establish trade and sovereignty over the Native American tribes along the Missouri River.

Once he got approval, Jefferson chose Meriwether Lewis and William Clark to head the journey, since both were seasoned frontiersmen. He called the group the Corps of Discovery, and about 40 other men joined the group as well, offering various skills that would be necessary to accomplish their goals. The journey started on May 21, 1804, along the Missouri River. They started off traveling by boat and eventually made it to the edge of the Great Plains.

Initially, there was a little tension when the Corps met the Lakota tribe, but the two groups remained peaceful due largely to the tribe's chief, Chief Black Buffalo. In April of 1805, Sacagawea and her husband joined the group. Sacagawea became a vital part of the group because of her interpretation and diplomacy skills, as well as her mere presence, which was a sign the Corps came in peace.

What happened when everyone finally returned to St. Louis? The journey yielded a lot of new information that was very useful, including facts about natural resources, plant and animal species, and land size. Lewis became governor of the Louisiana Territory, and Clark became governor of the Missouri Territory. Sadly, Sacagawea passed away of illness in 1812, not long after the end of the expedition.

We hope you and your student(s) enjoyed learning about these two famous explorers! If you want even more information, head over to our website and download one of our many free lesson plans, full of activities, worksheets, and more!

Photosynthesis for Kids is a great science video aimed to teach 1st to 3rd grade students learn about Photosynthesis and how plants are able to make their own food!

In this video we teach that plants and animals are living things. Both need the food and energy to live. Animals get their energy from the plants and animals they eat. Plants, however, do not have a mouth and cannot eat like animals.

The food-making process for plants is called photosynthesis. It might be a big word, but photosynthesis is used by plants to make their own food as well as produce oxygen for other living creatures.

Without plants making their own food through photosynthesis, living things could not survive. People and animals eat the food that comes from plants, but also take in the oxygen released by the plants. The air you breathe in has oxygen which came from plants.

So we learn that Photosynthesis is important not only for plants but for all living things! Come learn more in the video!

If you're looking for more photosynthesis resources check out our 100% FREE comprehensive lesson plans complete with activities, worksheets, assignments and more! The free lesson can be found at: https://learnbright.org/lesson....s/science/photosynth

In this video we discuss the difference between simple and compound sentences. Simple sentences must have just two parts; a Subject and a predicate or verb. Compound sentences are made up of two complete simple sentences or independent clauses. Don't worry, once you've watched this video you'll be able to identify the difference and feel comfortable with both types of sentences.

If your looking for more resources about Simple and compound sentences be sure to download our free 12 page lesson plan (built for grades 1-3) here: https://learnbright.org/lesson....s/language-arts/simp

You've probably heard of the big bang theory at some point. But do you know what it actually is? In The Big Bang Theory for Kids, you will learn what exactly this idea for how the universe began came to be in the first place. You will also learn a little about our own galaxy and solar system along the way.

The big bang theory was first suggested by a cosmologist and priest named Georges Lemaรฎtre in the 1920s. He estimates that the universe started out as a single atom at the beginning of time. Rather than by an explosion, the universe simply started to expand in a fraction of a second due to matter and energy. Over time, the expansion slowed, but Lemaรฎtre and many other scientists believe the universe is still expanding today.

The force of gravity plays a huge role in everything when it comes to the universe. All the objects in space form when particles and gases from the universe's expansion pull together (through gravity). When small amounts of dust and gas pull together, planets form and start to orbit the star. Another force called dark energy or dark matter is also important. We don't have a lot of information about it, but scientists think it's what causes cosmos apart faster and faster.

We hope you and your student(s) enjoyed learning about this cool idea! If you want to learn even more, head over to our website and download one of our many free lesson plans about the universe, full of activities, worksheets, and more!

Did you know the forces of nature like wind or weather change the physical structure of how things look over time? In this video for kids, you will learn all about the processes of weathering and erosion. You will discover that there are three main types of weathering and three main types of erosion. The two process seem pretty similar, but they are actually different. But they practically work together to both destroy landforms and create new ones!

The three types of weathering are chemical, mechanical, and biological. Chemical weathering changes minerals inside or on the surface of rocks. Mechanical weathering is caused by ice, the sun's heat, and a couple other natural forces. Biological weathering involves plants and animals, as well as humans. It is called "biological" because this type of weathering happens because of a living organism. For instance, a tree root growing out of a rock is slowly breaking that rock into smaller pieces.

The three main causes of erosion are water, wind, and ice. Water can cause erosion through rainfall, rivers, and floods. The force of water pushes or pulls rocks and sediment to a new location. Wind similarly picks up and carries loose particles and dust. And glaciers are constantly moving and shifting, which causes erosion too!

We hope you and your student(s) enjoyed learning how the earth changes! If you want even more information, head over to our website and download one of our many free lesson plans about weathering and erosion, full of activities, worksheets, and more!

Sometimes it's hard to distinguish whether something is a necessity or we just want that thing. Financial Literacy for Kids provides the basics about needs versus wants, budgeting, credit versus debit, and more. The points are easy to follow and understand. By the end, students will receive a good foundation of these points of financial literacy.

A need is something that is necessary to survival. Food, water, and shelter are needs because we need those things to survive. Wants include much more, from toys and books to phones and cars. While it can be difficult to tell the difference sometimes, these definitions will help you find the answer.

The video also reviews the concepts of saving versus borrowing. Saving money is something we do so that we can eventually buy something we want, like a new bike. This can take time. If you want something more immediately, you can borrow money. Borrowing money, however, means that you have to pay back the money you borrowed over time. And sometimes you have to pay interest.

Budgeting is a very helpful tool to help control or manage our finances. A budget designates a certain amount of money to go toward certain things. For instance, perhaps you budget $50 for food for a week. If you spend more money on food than you budgeted for that week, you may have to save money somewhere else to ensure you don't spend more money than you have and go into debt.

We hope you and your student(s) enjoyed learning about these important skills! If you want even more information, head over to our website and download one of our many free lesson plans, full of activities, worksheets, and more!
