Hello Friends! Welcome to a new Happy Learning video.
Today, we’re going to travel to Ancient Egypt to get to know the mysteries of their pyramids and mummies. But don’t be scared! because they don’t do anything.

As you already know, Ancient Egyptians believed in life after death, that’s why they built the pyramids, which were the pharaohs’ tombs. During their construction, there were thousands of workers for a very long time. Before, we believed that they were built by slaves, but thanks to archaeologist's work, we know that they were built by citizens that worked for salt, wheat or barley. These workers were organised and directed by architects and engineers that made sure everything was calculated and done properly.
Today, we see that pyramids are old, but when they had just been built, they were covered in beautiful white limestone and the tip of the pyramid was golden. I’m sure they were beautiful.

Inside the pyramids, there are tunnels, chambers and secret passageways. And this was where they left the pharaoh’s mummified bodies.

But do you know what a mummy is? A mummy is a person’s or animal’s body that is kept after death. Because Ancient Egyptians believed in life after death, they wanted to preserve their bodies, but it was a very expensive process so only pharaohs and some noblemen were able to do it.
The mummification process took 70 days.
First, the body was washed and all its interior organs, except the heart were removed. Then, the body was filled with linen and covered in salt for about 50 days.
After this time, the body was wrapped in bandages and placed in a luxurious sarcophagus. Thanks to this mummification process, many mummies are in a perfect state today, and have allowed us to learn so many things about Ancient Egypt.

Hi Children, in this educational video we are going to learn another interesting animal, the chameleon, a multi-coloured reptile.
The chameleon is one of nature’s most curious reptiles, its capable of changing colour to camouflage, or to say, it can change its colour to match that of its surroundings, so no predators can see it… Look, look, try to find it…
The chameleon, like all reptiles, has a body that is completely covered in hard scales that protect him from its enemies, but they have a characteristic that makes them very special in comparison to other reptiles, do you know which one it is?
As you have discovered by looking at the images, chameleon’s eyes are very special. They are cone shaped and in the centre they have a hole where the pupil peeks out. The cone shape allows them to easily rotate their eyes completely in any direction. They can also move each eye independently, and that is why they have a 360 view, which is to say they can see everything that is happening around them without moving their head. But everything good that they have in their sight is bad in their hearing, why though? Why do you think that is?

As you can see they don’t have any ears and its believed they are deaf.
As we have already said the fundamental characteristic a chameleon has is that it can change its skin colour to adapt to its surrounding. However the colour change also depends on its emotional state… if they are angry… if they are scared or in love.
Another characteristic that surprises everyone is their way of hunting. Chameleons, like crocodiles, snakes and the majority of reptiles are carnivorous… which is why they need to hunt to survive.
The chameleons hunt their pray with their tongs. Their tongue is very long and can be deployed very rapidly. Its tip is sticky and when it touches its prey it sticks to it, making it very easy to then eat them. Chameleons feed mainly on insects although sometimes they can eat in small mammals or birds.

The truth is that chameleons are very extraordinary animals, don’t you think?

Educational Videos and songs for Kids. Today we’re going to learn about amphibians!

Hello everybody! Today we’re going to look at a truly amazing group of vertebrates... When they’re born they usually live in water... but when they grow up and become adults they spend most of their time on land. We present - the Amphibians!
All amphibians have some common characteristics that you should know about so you can recognize and differentiate them.
Amphibians have thin, bare skin, with no hairs and scales to protect them. Most have four legs and a membrane between their toes that allows them to move much better in the water.
Amphibians are oviparous, but they don’t incubate their eggs after laying them... they abandon them and don’t care for their young. Not very good parents, huh?
When they hatch, they’re small larvae and live in water. Slowly... very slowly... their bodies go through a process called metamorphosis.
During this process, the body of the amphibian... changes... their front and rear legs, their limbs, grow... and their heads and their bodies develop, so they finally look like their parents.
In the early stages of their lives... amphibians breathe through gills, but when they grow up and become adults... they breathe with their lungs. The problem is, their lungs are very small, and cannot get all the oxygen they need to live. But nature is very clever... and has solved this problem by allowing them to breathe and get the oxygen they need... through their skin. That’s why they need to be near water - to keep their skin wet.
In the early stages of their life, some amphibians are herbivores, but when they grow up... most become carnivores. So they need to hunt...
Some have a long, sticky tongue they shoot out to capture prey.
Aren’t amphibians fascinating? And also a bit strange?!
So let’s remember the most important characteristics...
Amphibians are vertebrates; they’re oviparous; in the early stages of their life they live in water as larvae, but slowly they change until they look just like their parents. This process of change is called metamorphosis.
Amphibians are carnivores, so they have to hunt to eat; they have thin, smooth skin, and breathe through their skin and with their lungs.
Amphibians are so interesting, aren’t they?

What are you waiting for? Hi kids, today we are going to meet the bear, a very special mammal, who is very cute.
As you can see in the video the majority of bears have a very big and chubby body, with short legs and a long snout.
Like most mammals, its body is covered in hair. A bear’s fur can vary a lot in colour. It can go from snow white like a polar bear, to Brown like this grizzly bear, or to White and black like these friendly panda bears.

Although bears are very heavy and big animals, they are very capable of climbing trees with a lot of agility, however this is not always the case. They are also very competent swimmers.

Bears are omnivorous animals; they eat meat and vegetables, like us humans, however they are much greedier. The panda bear, for example, spends twelve hours a day eating bamboo and we all know how much the majority of bears love honey. To obtain most of the food they eat, they use their very developed sense of smell, it’s even better than a dogs.
There is a very special characteristic that bears have that converts them into a very interesting animal.
When the cold arrives in the freezing winter the majority of bears hibernate. They spend every day sleeping, they don’t wake up, they don’t eat, they don’t sleep, they dot drink and they don’t even poo… They live of the fat they accumulated during spring, summer and autumn. That is why they are so greedy, because they have to eat enough during these seasons, so that they can sleep all Winter.
Like all mammals, bears are viviparous, that is to say they are born form their mothers womb and the baby bears are also born without hair, teeth and are blind.
Bears are hunted for their fur, as coats and carpets can be made from them, and this is why they are in danger of extinction. If we don’t take care of them they can completely disappear from the face of the earth or they would only be able to remain in zoos.

An ability that bears have that always catches everyone’s attention is that they can stand on their back legs. This can be a very terrifying show as they can appear huge when they do so.
The most common bear is the grizzly bear; they can measure up to approximately three meters and weigh about 1477 pounds. It’s a lot, isn’t it?
Well know you now a bit more a bout bears, and even though they are not very lovable, they are super interesting!

Bye children, and don’t forget to subscribe to Happy Learning.

Hello Happy Friends! Welcome to a New Happy Learning Video. Today, we’re going to get to know unicellular and multicellular living organisms.

We all know, that all living things are made up of cells, but many of them are form of a single cell. They are called micro or unicellular organisms. Although they are very simple organisms, they live an independent life, meaning they perform all vital functions by themselves. Do you remember what these functions are? Well done! Nutrition, Relationship, and reproduction.

Some Examples of unicellular beings are bacteria and protozoans.

Some of these organisms are able to make their own food but most of them feed on other living beings.

They are so small they can only bee seen through a microscope, that’s why we also call them microbes or microorganisms. The truth is that they are a little bad for us humans because they cause diseases, but others are very beneficial, like ones which turn milk into yogurt o cheese. Hmmmm so yummy!

Living things who made up of more than one cell, are called multicellular beings. Like plants, or animals. All cells in these organisms are alive. They feed on substances they take to the membrane and they reproduce, by increasing in size and dividing into two. Also, lots of them can move.

Cells are very diverse and they join in biological tissues depending on their shape and function. Two examples of biological tissues are the epithelial tissue, our skin, and muscular tissues, our muscles. These organs, likewise, form groups like the respiratory or digestive system.

Well friends, now you know about unicellular and multicellular beings. Easy Peasy!

Hello friends! Welcome to a new Happy Learning video.
Today, we’re going to learn about of the first and most important of human civilisations, today, we’re going to learn about… Mesopotamia!

The word Mesopotamia means “between two rivers” in greek! So this civilisation was named because it was situated between two rivers: Tigris and Euphrates.
Within these fertile lands, the first ever city-states were born, four thousand years before Christ! The most important cities were Ur, Urk and Lagash.

These city-states were independent from each other, like small different countries. They were surrounded by a great wall to protect themselves. The Ziggurat, a temple where priests lived, was built in the center of the city. Here, they controlled the trade, agriculture and taxes. The supreme priest had the city's political and religious power

Agricultural fields spread across these cities, which were traversed by irrigation channels that used the river’s water to water cultivations and animals would drink. Most of the city’s citizens were farmers and shepherds, but there were also artesans that sold their own products at the markets.

Because of their well-being, both cities began to grow, but so did the conflicts between them due to the control of land.
These battles arose military leaders that little by little turned into monarchs, Kings!

Between the years three thousand a one thousand B.C., Mesopotamian lands were conquered by various towns or cities. The first one was the Akkadian Empire, then the Babylonian Empire, followed by the Assyrian Empire and finally the Persian Empire.
So we’ve got to know part of Mesopotamia’s history, but do you know why it has been such an important civilisation for humanity?

Well there are many reasons! The first one is, because Mesopotamia was where, around 3500 B.C., the first written language was found. At first, it was composed by simple drawings called pictograms, look at these examples.
Over time, these drawings were simplified and started to transform into symbols, which is what we know today as cuneiform (cuniform) writing. As you can see, this writing was made with a wooden punch over clay boards.

Another great contribution mesopotamia made was its art. They created the arc and vault, that helped them construct magnificent temples and palaces. To decorate the walls and doors within these temples and palaces they used paintings like this one, where the King Ashurbanipal is hunting lions.

By the way, before we say goodbye, Do you know what country Mesopotamia is today?
Well it’s… Irak! you can see it here.

Goodbye friends! And don’t forget to subscribe to Happy Learning Tv!
